It was somewhat unsurprising to see some news sites point out the first person killed in nice was muslim. As if that automatically justifies it. But do keep trying.

The indisputable fact of the matter is that the majority of individuals killed in the attack were Muslim, unless there is a big surprise regarding the religious identity of the Kosovans or Turks, we're talking about at least 7 of the 9 killed in the attack being Muslim or of Muslim background.

Its basically impossible to believe this could be pure happenstance given Germany's demographics if his actual goal was to target ethnic Germans or Christians. The shooter either specifically was at least somewhat focused on killing Muslims (I suppose theoretically he could have been targeting Sunnis) or was specifically targeting some of these individuals for some reason. (Or alternately was simply choosing basically a location at random to start shooting and didn't care that the majority of individuals at that location were Muslim since his goals was simply to kill people of any religion period.)

The individual in question is an Iranian born in Germany with previously diagnosed mental issues, so he does not exactly for instance fit the refugee profile.

The reality is at this point there is overwhelming evidence against this being an ISIS or Al Queda inspired attack, and it clearly doesn't fit even a general profile of an Islamic extremist attack in the west in recent years.
