Words are descriptive tools, in these cases used to describe how your crowd sees the world. They are apt descriptions or else I'm sure these people prone to nitpicking would be arguing they weren't.

Also for your own sake be careful with accusations of stupidity. Consider for example sports skills, where someone who's not very good isn't the same position to tell others they suck as someone who is.

I ask seriously if you've ever been good at something, like a sport as mentioned, and thus can reflect on the kind of trash talking which particularly emanates from the lower ranks.

This is important because what I'm saying only makes sense given this bit of background. Otherwise it becomes hard to explain the situation at hand.

As for this shooting in Germany... still strange to me how it was thought to be more than 1 person but now its just the one shooter. What if there were other shooters but authorities just don't want to alarm the whole city since one or more may still be at large?

Well I was a star running back and corner back at a high school in Wisconsin. One year I scored all the touchdowns on my team save one. My Dad is in the Nebraska high school hall of the fame. Three of my uncles were on that team as well.

The 1956 team and the 1957 team were unbeaten and UNSCORED ON (Has any other school had back-to-back shutout seasons?). The 1958 team was unbeaten but the no-points streak ended. It was a great four/five-year run of football success, perhaps one of the best sports performances in the history of the school.

The point I'm trying to make is that only when someone acquires various levels of skill do they have some appreciation of what that means.

A couch-based fan criticizing a decent player for mistakes they think were there, is very different than that player telling the fan to get off their ass and play some to get a feel for what it's like. It's also very different than said fan getting angry/indignant and retorting with "I'm not shit, your shit".

Someone's ever been good should know exactly what this means. Someone who's never been good but has keen logic can probably intuit the meaning. Unfortunately the venn diagram of people who've never been good but are smart looks like a pair of binoculars.
