Yeah, I just go straight to heavy.com when stuff like this happens.

I think it was likely white supremacist. Reports are that they yelled "allah ackbar" while shooting, but that probably was done in irony.

Also, one has a quebecois name, which means that his name is french-native.

During the recent shooting in Germany, there were reports of "Allah Ackbar" shouted, but it turned out to be the victims screaming it. Could very well be the case here.

What about that black guy who burned down his own church?

Probably, especially if his goal was attacking his own congregation. If he sought to falsely portray it as himself or his church as being the target of terrorism, then he should be brought up on a multitude of relevant charges, including whatever charge would be falsely impersonating terrorism.

Well, that was done because some people crave the unity that comes with common threats. Like, Rachel Dolezal would fake hate crimes because it brought her attention, sympathy, and a sense of besieged camraderie from the black community.

But actual people were killed here...so likely not.

That to me is terrorism.

Should wait for the facts to settle on this one before pointing fingers. The one thing we seem to know is that this was a disgusting cowardly act.

That sort of generalization and extremism on your part makes you unable to have a valid conversation unless its fits your view that anyone on the right is automatically racist.

That's fucking stupid.

Don't be dense and overly dramatic. They are thread tags, given that most are about Trump, they should be tagged that way.

It's abusing tags to make a thread about this event and tag it "Trump"

Christ, I almost always put up 10 tags, and in that thread I was irritated worrying about the tags like I often do, so I just quit right there, and considering how often my threads deal with Trump and the far right, I probably just put them in automatically, especially given the current political climate. There is also something known as subconscious bias you know.

I don't mind discussing things with people I disagree with, but lets talk and not auto-assume the other side is always all those tags you put in your thread.

See, what you do does matter. Unless you want to find yourself on ignore, you need to tone down your dense and dramatic negative portrayal of those you disagree with. Otherwise lmk and Ill put you on ignore until Presidents Day.

Nearly everyone over at "the site which shall not be named" has him on ignore...liberals and coservatives alike. He's a fucking moron who knows nothing beyond what he reads on the internet, supposedly doesn't work, and probably has never left his mom's basement.

Compared to a Clayton Bigsby that apparently wont see any members of his family and hasnt for decades, constantly disparages those that live on reservations including his relatives, and sprouts racist shit about other people all the time, especially Asians and Mexicans? Yeah, sure.

And quite a few of the liberals over there dont have me on ignore.

Nevermind that you are actually a felon. What actually was your felony?

Liberal violence is politically correct violence. The 'evolved' have moved beyond the restrictions that must continue to be placed on those they deem to be subhuman.

Btw, some dumb-ass 'journalist' has already tried to blame Trump for this.

The shooting was absolutely horrid. My heart goes out to the victims and to those that loved them. But can we please not compound this terrible event with stupidity?

lol Right. It's important to remember that the intolerant people are those celebrating the election of Trump, not those people vandalizing buildings, burning cars, and throwing rocks at cops to protest the election of Trump. It'd be very easy to confuse that simple truth if one only concentrates on the total intolerance of the tolerant people.

A question for people who actually know.

Reports say that two individuals have been arrested. At what point are identities released? Canadian laws regarding such things are probably different than in the US and I'd hope some restraint on the part of the police without substantial evidence or charges brought, but then what the press can report and when?

I don't know how things are done.

In an incident like this I would say they will probably have a press conference today where it's 50/50 if they release info. Sometimes Canadian authorities refuse in an effort to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

Word is coming out that they are both students at Laval University. One felt remorse and called police. He apparently was planning to commit suicide and throw himself off a bridge.

Thanks for that.

Going on speculation it seems less than likely that two Laval students would be white supremacists (although we can't rule anything our or in right now). From what little I recall and what I read it isn't likely to be a hotbed of anti-Muslim hate. But again, I don't really know anything for sure about this tragic crimes cause.
