shooting at quebec city mosque, 5 reported dead

Quebec City Police are outside of a mosque where multiple gunshots were fired.

Multiple people are feared wounded, according to CBC's French-language service Radio-Canada. Their condition is not known at this time.

A number of ambulances are parked outside of the Islamic cultural centre of Quebec in the Sainte-Foy neighbourhood.

Police have set up a perimeter around the mosque.

More to come.

Five people were killed after gunmen opened fire in a Quebec City mosque during evening prayers, the mosque's president told reporters on Sunday.

Earlier, a witness told Reuters that up to three gunmen fired on about 40 people inside the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center.

Why is the Reuters headline "US-CANADA-MOSQUE-SHOOTING"? I seriously doubt that any Americans drove all the way to Quebec City to shoot up a mosque.

Condolences to the victims and their families. Hopefully the shooters are gunned down in a police battle rather than being sentenced to life and getting out in seven to ten.

Us-Canada is just a category. BBC uses something similar.

Speaking for Americans, and yes, I do speak for all of us, we resent being grouped in with people who shoot up mosques and demand ID to vote. We demand our own category!

RE: Id to vote - Canadian requirements are not more stringent than US requirements.

BrianManahan, I noticed you posted your thread before me, so mine is probably going to get locked, so could you please add terrorist attack to your title to more accurately reflect the reality we are facing?

We don't know what reality is yet. Fuck we jump on those on the right who immediately blame Muslims for everything. Can we wait until some facts come out first?

I dont jump at people calling terrorism as terrorism. I jump on people at automatically naming terrorism suspects as Muslim before any suspects are even known. I didnt blame white people or Christians in my post, I simply reflected that it almost certainly is terrorism.

That would be hate crime. Unless they are spewing some Christian crusade crap. Then slap terrorism charges on as well.

Would you label deliberate concentrated violent campaigns against black people by racist White Southerners in the 1960s as terrorism?

The direct goal of burning black churches is to inspire fear, which is exactly what terrorism is.

Yet you posted these tags in your repost of this story.

That's just ignorant.

True, but because those are the common subjects that are being talked about, if you notice, many of my other posts have the exact same tags, and the tags can be varied. Tags are meant to "tag" threads as being related to common topics. I can add more tags if you want, I will go see if I can add more.

That sort of generalization and extremism on your part makes you unable to have a valid conversation unless its fits your view that anyone on the right is automatically racist.

That's fucking stupid.

except we don't know who did the Montreal thing yet.

Trump is trying to provoke attacks, but he keeps provoking the wrong kind. Trump needs brown people to commit terrorist attacks (preferably arabs/muslims) in order to justify another war in the Middle East. Eventually he will succeed.

we have our own intolerant people. some of them were celebrating election of Trump.
lol Right. It's important to remember that the intolerant people are those celebrating the election of Trump, not those people vandalizing buildings, burning cars, and throwing rocks at cops to protest the election of Trump. It'd be very easy to confuse that simple truth if one only concentrates on the total intolerance of the tolerant people.
