i drive above the limit myself, but i dont see why this is a big deal, you wanted to drive 55 or above, they were looking for their turnoff or not in a hurry, either way you dont know their situtation.... maybe their best friend just died in a horrible car accident and are still slightly afraid to drive as fast as they normally would

the speed limit is just that, a LIMIT, not a suggestion, it isnt necessarily a speed you should be driving.. it's the upper most limit

once again i say that i drive above the limit myself

Being scared to drive makes them even more of a danger. People like them shouldn't be driving. Slow drivers are the cause of most accidents not speeding drivers.

It is true because slow drivers cause road rage and road rage leads to accidents.

Well, he does have a point. Though, depending on situation it can be argued both ways.
On highways, the a higher speed limit and traffic movement causes people to pay better attention. Resulting in less accidents.

every study i've seen done on this topic has shown that it's VARIANCE in speed that causes accidents, not fast drivers, not slow drivers but drivers that are significantly out of the norm.

if you are in the left most lane and are being passed by 60% of the traffic to the right of you, going flow of traffic, than YOU are the problem no matter HOW you try to rationalize it.

there is a reason why the left lane is designated as the passing lane in most driving situations.

Damn...your life as you know it is now over.

Might as well kill yourself.

Yes, you're catching on.

"yea, you cannot be cited for going to slowly, you can be told by an officer to go faster, unless there is a minimum speed"

Yes you can be given a ticket for going to slow as you are creating a hazard.

"Actually cost you a whole 2 minutes and 3 seconds, assuming you were planning to go the speed limit. "

Now multiply this by 10-20 times every day and then multiply by 365 days every year.

Now how much time have we lost for no good reason?

"You being a newbie driver who can't speed doesn't warrant cussing as someone."

Since when is going the speed limit "speeding?" He wanted to go 55.

40 in a 55 is NOT a hazard.

5 in a 45 is a hazard. you OBVIOUSLY have never driven through amish country (yes, my county has the largest population of amish in ohio, but like 20 minutes from here) you OBVIOUSLY dont live near farms with tractors that go up and down the roads,

WHEN do you get stuck behind 10-20 drivers A DAY going 15 under?? seriously, thats not reasonable.

hey, can we see the pics of your car fazzter?

and if you think im sum grumpy old dude.

clue#1 look at my sig
clue #2 im 17
clue #3 no i dont like getting behind slow ppl, but if it happens, it happens DEAL WITH IT

and since when, did he cause a line of cars????? i only have heard about one car behind the slow dude. you guys make the LARGEST assumptions EVER!

MIKE

Maybe you need a reading lesson. I wrote "Yes you can be given a ticket for going too slow as you are creating a hazard."
Do you see anywhere in there where it says "for going 15 MPH" under posted speed? I don't. I was just making the point that a police officer CAN give you a ticket for going "too" slow. How many MPH below the speed limit in a certain speed zone you would have to do to get a ticket I do not know. It is probably in the officers judgement and could vary. If there is no one else on the road I doubt they would ever give you a ticket for that, but if they feel you are creating a hazard then yes they could write you up.

Whether going 15 MPH under the speed limit is a hazard just depends on the situation.

You wrote, "you OBVIOUSLY have never driven through amish country," yep, you're right I haven't.

Then you wrote "you OBVIOUSLY dont live near farms with tractors that go up and down the roads." WRONG. I drive through farmland every single day I go to work. I see tons of tractors and other farm equipment, trucks, etc.

You wrote "you guys make the LARGEST assumptions EVER!." HMMMM, I guess you made a big incorrect assumption also, didn't you!?

You wrote "WHEN do you get stuck behind 10-20 drivers A DAY going 15 under?? seriously, thats not reasonable" Ok you're right here. I exaggerated. But if I am running errands during a day off I DO get behind that many people driving slower than crap for no apparent reason. Where you ask? Santa Maria, CA.

You wrote "hey, can we see the pics of your car fazzter?" Sure. But I don't think it matters at all what I drive as far as this thread goes.

Xterra

Corolla

ZX-9RC

Sorry the pics are mostly crappy, I was in a hurry. We also just sold a 1997 Mazda 626 I was using to drive to work.

I mostly drive the Xterra, ride the bike during nice weather. The Toyota is my wifes and I drive it occasionally.

Astorath33 said it 100% correctly though...."I agree with the rant. I hate people who do that... not necessarily for the fact that they drive slow, as there MAY be a valid reason for that. I hate them for the fact that they are inconsiderate and will not pull over for faster traffic to pass. The issue isn't necessarily about saving time per se, but about frustration level. "

I too have no prob with tractors and such that can't be driven faster anyway, but it is the inconsiderate a holes and people who just plain can't drive that I can't stand.

Also, you will notice that most people who are driving below the speed limit by a decent amount are TALKING ON THEIR DAMN CELL PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT pisses me off the most of all.......they're idiots!

Do you really want to shot somebody in the head because they are driving too slowly for you?

I was just saying that. Ofcourse I wont kill anyone for going 15 MPH under the speed limit. But I wouldn't mind if they kill them self.

I drive slow and think about the fact that you are living proof that your mother and father were related.

This is Fazzters wife,

My biggest complaint is if you dont feel confident in driving you should not be behind the wheel at all. I had a friend of mine who took her driving test, who was told that she wasnt gonna get her license, because the tester didnt feel she was confidant enough in her driving and created a hazard.

Also as far as I know in Cal if you are impedeing the traffic by going under the speed limit you can and will get a ticket. Thats why there is the 5 or more cars behind you, you need to pull over rule. It's just common senses.

Sometimes, you'll run into vehicles that can't actually get to the speed limit. Like a Dodge Shadow, or someone limping their car home/to the shop/whatever, or a piece of farm equipment.

dodge shadows pwn the junkyard.

I love speeding and driving overall like an aggressive driver while talking on my cell phone. I even flash the turn signals. It goes to prove how not everybody on cell phones while driving are physically handicapped or impaired. ;)

Actually I honestly think talking on a cell phone is as distracting as talking to a passenger in the car. I, like many of you, drive with only one arm anyway. (Someone posted a poll about this)

FYI to those saying there is no minimum:

Actually, in most if not all states there IS a legal minimum. On expressways 40mph is generally the minimum legal speed, even if it's not explicitly posted. If the road you were on was speed limit 55 and it wasn't an actual expressway, chances are there are minimum speed 40 signs on it occasionally to inform you it applies there (if the limit is 50+, the minimum 40 is usually there).

It is unfortunate that this rule is not enforced more often. When I was in central FL it was pretty much every day that pokeys would be pacing each other at below 25mph blocking all lanes by matching each other's speed during both the commute to and from work. Basically had to use the median and sometimes sidewalks as an express lane to get around these assholes about a dozen times a day.

It sucks when idiots go slowly, like 40 in a 60 or 40 in a 55. Unless the weather sucks or you're in something like a tractor, you should go a more reasonable speed (like 50).

Same in Canada. I think they fail you if you go less than 40-45 KM/h in a 50KM/h for no good reason.

is it not true that driver fatigue is the cause of most accidents? not speed.

You = fscktard. This is what this generation is comming to? Blaming other people for you doing something dumb? So in your twisted world, if I go 40 in a 55 and you are behind me, it's ok for you to shoot and kill me cause it's my fault I made you mad?

Being stuck behind people going stupidly slow causes fatigue.
