Shity ass people who go blelow the speed limit need to be shot dead. Yesterday I was driving on a road, the road has one lane in each direction and the speed limit is 55MPH. This is a road not a freeway. So I come to this car and this bastard is only doing 40 MPH. Now I can go around him because there are a lot of cars going in the oposite direction and I dont want to cause and accident. This was for like 5 miles. It might not seem long to you but It was long to me. There was no reason to go 40 MPH. There was no one infront of him either. It makes me so mad when people go below the speed limit. What A holes.

Maybe he/she had car trouble. Maybe they had small children in the car. Maybe they just wanted to be safe. No sense to get angry over something that maybe took 5 or 10 more minutes of your time. Life's too short to be pissed off at stuff like this.

Sometimes, you'll run into vehicles that can't actually get to the speed limit. Like a Dodge Shadow, or someone limping their car home/to the shop/whatever, or a piece of farm equipment.

Speed limit is a maximum speed. Was there a minimum speed posted?

I usually just follow as close as safety permits and just bully them outta the way. (Hey flamers, i said as close as safety permits, not tailgating)

Edit:/ For those of you who said there might be good reason for going slow, the car could have had the consideration to pull over and let some cares pass. Edit

In the UK, if you don't drive at a reasonable speed, you can fail your test. That includes not speeding, and not going too slowly.

It sucks when idiots go slowly, like 40 in a 60 or 40 in a 55. Unless the weather sucks or you're in something like a tractor, you should go a more reasonable speed (like 50).

I agree with you. We have a road here that some moron stuck a 30mph speed limit on. No one knows why and no one in their right mind goes 30. It's not enforced anyway so most people do 45+. But the other day I was late to work and got behind some old fart doin 25. That just pissed me off. There is no excuse for someone to go that slow.

It is also against the law to drive to slow, and it is clear this person was going to slow. 15MPH under the speed limit is to slow.

Not the ones I've been stuck behind. I know the legend behind the early 90's Dodges. I own one (The turbovan, specifically)

There appear to be two models of Shadow - the ones around here (suck) and the ones everywhere else (pwn)

It's arguable(sp?), I know in hawaii the highways are 55 mph with a 40 min

Actually, it's not against the law to drive slow - it's against the law to create an unmarked hazard to other drivers because you're driving slow. Do us all a favor and don't get behind a tractor or rural route mail delivery vehicle or garbage truck or school bus.

Small children in the car?

So?

Wanted to be safe?

How do you think they came up with 55 as the speed limit?

Life is too short to waste time driving around at 20% or more below the speed limit! In fact most of the speed limits are too low for anyone that has a clue how to drive anyway. (oh wait, that excludes all the illegals/old people, and other retards who never learned to really handle a vehicle! - about half the drivers out there)

They need to make getting a drivers license a real privilege in this country and truly test driver skill behind the wheel. As it is now any moron can get a license to drive. bleh...

Do you dislike waiting in long lines at the bank? Is the fact that pages load faster part of the appeal of broadband if you have it? Are you annoyed by the slowness of dial-up if you don't? Do you try to avoid rush hour traffic?

If you answered no to all of those you're the epitome of patience. If you answered yes you're just a hypocrite and you should be quiet. Nobody likes being stuck in traffic behind a slow driver and I doubt you're an exception. It may not be the most major annoyance in the world but nevertheless, it is annoying.

The 55 mph speed limit was created because it was determined that at the time it was the most fuel efficient speed for vehicles of that era.

Wow, so you mean that those of us who don't live in the inner city will have to walk 20 miles to work every day because we don't meet some stupid high standard?

I'd like to see a lot of stupid morons off the road, too (Particularly, everybody that drives I-695 on a regular basis) but in order to live in some places, you MUST be able to drive. Get a clue before you open your mouth, please?

yea, you cannot be cited for going to slowly, you can be told by an officer to go faster, unless there is a minimum speed, you may go however slow the fvck you want.

hehe, and i pulled one PERFECTLY legal move yesterday, and scared the sh!t outta some old dude, i pulled out of a driveway, turning left, into the turning lane (goes both ways) i never moved once i got in it, and then proceeded to pull out after the car that was close had passed, that car swerved like i was gunna hit um too.

and fazzter, STFU you obviously have no idea what you are talking about 55mph was set as the speed limit because it is possible to go that fast and be safe, most likely a back road, not many houses, and paved. you dont have to go that speed.

Actually cost you a whole 2 minutes and 3 seconds, assuming you were planning to go the speed limit.

I happen to be one of those (insert expletive) drivers who drives the speed limit or just under. Teenage years had some fun moments to them, but they're long past and I've since come to realize cars are transportation devices, not toys, that I'm not invincible and neither are those around me on the highway and it really is true it cuts MPG to drive faster. Turns out that wasn't just adults trying to spoil my fun.

Viper0329's suggestion that they had car trouble seems very likely at 40 mph. For those who would say that they should then pull over and let you pass, consider the situation. You have a car that only does 40, you pull over, now you have to go again - if the car will accelerate - and merge back into the lane of traffic. Which if it was busy is more of a hazzard than just maintaining that 40 to start with.
