I have a 2009 Specialized Allez Sport C2. It came with 105 components all around, with 2x10 drivetrain.

the left hand shifter (front) broke. Googling online, someone called the pall breaking. it's well out of warranty now, so despite that shimano apparently recalled this vintage of brifter, I'm pretty sure I'm SOL.

So what are my options to replace with compatible components, so I don't have to replace the whole groupset?

You can replace with just about any front double shifter. But I'd go on Ebay and get a Shimano 5700 front shifter. Might as well replace the shift cable as well.

People also sell single shifters so you don't have to but both right and left. I might use this as an opportunity to upgrade your shifters if you can shell out a little more.
