I wish. That'd be a hell of a lot cheaper. Good steak costs way too much.

I did, but I have a kickass superbroiler and didn't want to have to clean the stove top.

What I did was preheat the skillet and get it hot on the burner. The hot pan then seared the steak like a branding iron. and then flipped it over. Once one side was done, I flipped it over to a different spot in the pan which was literally searing hot.

Worked well enough, but for a thick piece of meat I would do it the traditional way.
