News agencies don't generally run patently false and potentially libelous text screen commentary before the sound bites.

Sherrod has a strong case against FrightFart for libel with punative damages for malice. Regardless of whether FrightFart edited the tape, himself, or he received it as he presented it, if he claims to be any kind of a journalist, he failed dismally in his duty to verify the facts behind the tape before publishing such potentially damaging material.

The fact that an individual has a public media platform doesn't change his absolute responsibility for making libelous statements. Rather, it goes to the amount of damage such libelous public statements can cause. It may also go to the amount of punitive damages awarded to the victim of that libel. Those are matters to be determined at trial.

First, for accuracy, she was NOT slandered. She was libeled. The difference is whether the false statements were spoken or made in a written/published/permanent format.

This thread has been interesting. Its actually an educational thread. It starts with the OP making a really bad Topic title Dave pointing his error out to him. The OP getting mad believing Dave was accussing him of racism . Dave repling in his special way saying not so. Than its settles down. Than Classy comes in saying what the ---- you guys high or something really laying the wood on the Guy that editied the video bring it back up to interesting thread statits again . But he did the exact same thing the op did. But with the unedited version. The orginal video the op linked had the whole meaning of what occurred. No need for the unedited version at all. But Classy wanted to crucify the racist editer. Dave replies basicly saying this. Many many people showed good spirit in this topic, Made the same mistake as OP and the OP seen his error and corrected as did many others.

As far as this topic It smells to me, There was nothing wrong with the orginal posted video. Know, she won't win a case. But to me, This taints the orginal Post here.
