IMO the self cleaning thing is a gimmick to get you to continually buy cleaning cartridges forever. I never clean my shaver, other than dumping it out. What's the point?
So it will still charge in the cradle without cleaning it won't it?

But if people go through the trouble of filtering vodka, I imagine they'll make their own refillable cleaning cart.

I always fail to see how people posting deals include a GC for future items in on the current item's price. Especially one that's only good for a month.

My Norelco 3 head works good enough. I think I'll just wait till these fall in price.

1) yes free shipping is in OP

2) when i receive one review about 8595 on amazon.com, i was convenced to go with 8585. here is what it says:

The two models are the same, except that the 8595 has an LCD display for $40 more. The information on Braun's website sort of reveals, if you look at what the functions of the display are, that its main purpose is to nag you--time to clean, time to replace the foil, etc. So I saved the extra money and got the 8585

I use the 8585 and it works very very nicely. Shaves very closely. Has a few minor problems with a few rogue hairs on my neck that like to lay flat, but overall it's an A++ shaver. Zero irritation too, which I did have "some" irritation with a the Norrelco 3-rotor style razors. Sideburn trimmer is nice and effective as well.
