Just a thought on this post about braun.
I have seen some people saying that the cleaning solution
will break you. $10 a month.
and some are saying that all it is is alcohol and a few drops
of electricshave type solution.

any comments on how to cheapen the $10 month bill on cleaning
the thing??

thanks big time I want to try one but this is a little steep for an already
expensive razor

Amazon is currently selling 2 of the cartridges for $8.99 - Link. Course without your order being $25+ you have to pay shipping.

Would this work well for keeping my head bald? Anyone use it for that purpose? Where is the cheapest place to get a foil and razor replacement for this?

Now that the 8595 is down to 159.99 (basically making it 109.99 with the $50 back), I simply cannot pass this up. I actually had a Norelco, which I used till I dropped it in the toilet (accidentally) - it was decent, not awesome, but decent. Then I got a cheap-o Braun, which I have now, and do not even use (cause it really sucks).

Therefore, I wasa bit hesitant, but reading the review from The Screen Savers (link above) and other reviews on this thread, and this awesome price, has led me to try again for an electric that is everything I've hoped and dreamed of...

BTW, here is the cheap-o Braun I have now - LINK - DO NOT BUY THIS ONE! IT SUCKS!

I'm on a quest for the perfect electric shaver. I had a Braun 7526 which I think was the first one they offered with the cleaning base. It was an OK shaver but I always felt it could be closer. Before that I had a Panasonic Linear which was burning out so I replaced it with the Braun. I finally got fed up with the Braun and bought a new Linear. I currently use the ES8092 with minimal complaints. Daily use doesn't get a super-close shaver but its liveable. If you shave every other day, its probably as close as a blade. Also, shaving in the shower gets an even closer shave. I've tried the Mach 3 power but I don't like it. I'm so used to electric, it cuts my face apart.

Basically my question is to anyone who had a Linear and went to the Braun, what are your likes/dislikes?

BTW, back in the day I had a Norelco Advantage (the lotion spitting one) and it sucked. Never cared for those 3 heads...

Yeah, but I mean it's constructively the same thing. I buy from amazon monthly so...

I must say, I bought the Activator 8585 about 2 months ago. Great shaver. Looks nice and does a great job. No regrets buying it (except this deal would have made it a little cheaper). I've always used a rotary head unit and stayed away from foil. Not anymore. This unit beats any rotary head I've used before.

Ditto. I recently bought one after going through 2 Norelcos in 2 years. Much better IMO.

??? what ??? the 7526 is by far the best deal, given the fact it's at least $40 cheaper than any other website

Perhaps, but it does not meet the spending floor to kick-in the $50 gift certificate. Unless there are other Oral B or Braun products, just go with the 8595, a much better razor.

The 7526 is $50 cheaper than the 7680 (also cheapest on the web at amazon by a wide margin), and the only difference seems to be that it doesn't have lcd display (who needs it anyway, it one more thing that could break). You'd have to be an utter more on to buy 7680 instead of 7526.

Not sure if you're also considering the 8585/8595. The difference between those and the 7526 you listed are the foils. They drastically changed the foil design and I think it's for the better. I've used plenty of foil shaver before and wasn't thrilled. The new foil design seems to really make a difference for me.

Hmmm.... I really don't know much about the 8595, in what way is it better ?
And for the spending floor, you could get other braun products, for example I got braun electric kettle (I highly recommend it, btw).

It's back again! $50 GC with purchase of the Braun 8585. I ordered one along with a 2-pack of cleaner refills for $9.

The 8595 and the 7680 are also included in the GC offer.

How often do you have to change the refills anyway?
