Sharp 32 GP1U vs. D62U

Basically, unless you are going to use a PS3, Wii, etc etc. Then the D62U is the one to get. Heck, even if you do use those. I have used both now and the cheaper one is the same as the more expensive one. I absolutely love it. Wonderful for gaming, and general PC use is nice, cuase you can sit back and its still crisp, up close or far away.

I am so happy i did not pay the Xtra 200 for the GP1U.

There is NO input lag. (well, the naysays will say, Ermm, yes there is), you cant notice it though and my average frags in CS:S has increased a bit since this purchase (slightly), point is, its not an issue. Colors are alive and its also a GREAT HD TV. I was basically looking for a great monitor with a remote control without using "Clap on, Clap off." Heh. I found it. Dwarfs my Samsung 244t.

Save your money, get the cheaper of the two.

As for Monitor Language, I bought this as a monitor, not a TV.

FYI I knew we were talking about LCDs, I knew what a GP1U was, I just didnt know what a "D6TU" was and as it turns out, it was a typo.

Well, What i am saying is the "Advanced features for gaming needs" as a PC are the same for both GP and D6

I've heard of some contrast issues with the D62 series, while being used as a monitor, it has issues with letters becoming overly contrasted and hard to read or something to that effect. It seems that you can't turn off that contrast boosting feature that causes this. Would you be able to comment on this?

I have noticed none of this on my screen. I have noticed the reds are a bit saturated on a dark background (but only in apps, not games, video, etc etc). For me its minimal. That Dynamic contrast thingy while moving from dark to white, is virtually un-noticable, in fact, i dont even know what people are talking about, its the first thing I looked for but saw nothing.

I'm currently using a 32D62U and for me the contrast issue is a deal breaker. Whenever a lighter image comes up, it's as if someone is turning up the contrast in the settings. A good way to see the difference is to have something with red in it on the screen, then open a blank notepad window. You can instantly see the red get very over saturated. This makes it impossible to set the color properly, because it's constantly changing. Also, red text on a dark background looks absolutely horrible, regardless of the state of dynamic contrast.

I'll be returning my set next week. I can see it being very nice for someone who primarily plays console games, because the picture looks pretty good for that. But anyone wanting to use this as a computer screen may be disappointed. Just make sure wherever you buy it will allow you to return it if you aren't happy.

I do agree with the OP regarding the 32GP1U vs 32D62U. I don't see any input lag at all on this set (maybe a very small amount, I calibrated guitar hero 2 to 30ms and it seems about right) and unless you need the extra inputs I can't see a reason to spend the extra $200.

Agreed, on the last part, actually, all of yours in correct for you. But, I was wondering, why you see this saturation thingy and i don't. I even tried it with several different Pics and notepad screen, there is nothing, reds are always saturated though. I am actually thinking that my skill level in noticing these things are way down, heh.

I think another difference with the GP1U is that there's an option to turn off the dynamic contrast somewhere in the options. Or was it another option/mode which when turned on will disable the dynamic contrast feature.

There is no way to turn off the dynamic contrast on that LCD. Some of the inputs you can, and others you cannot, Any of them that are on the side, you cannot. So, that only leaves you S-video and components on the back.

but seriously, I have noticed none of this, maybe I need to check my version and maybe its new firmware that addresses this. I will take a look when I am not so tired. I have not slept well in days due to my excitement about my new system. heh
