Here's a summary of what Kobe said: On who's team it is: Doesn't matter whose team it is, nobody cares, but since it is his team no more coming into camp fat and out of shape. And when your team is counting on you for leadership on and off the court no more blaming others for the team's failures. Or blaming staff members for not dramatizing your injuries so that you can avoid the blame for your lack of conditioning. Contract/Opting Out: Leaders don't beg for a contract extension and negotiate some 30 plus million dollar deal in the media when we have 2 future hall of famers playing here for pretty much free. Some of the Big News Now: My Knee is not strong enough to play yet. I know it. When it is, I will play. But I don?t need Shaq's advice on how to play hurt. I've playing with IV's before, during and after games. I don?t miss 15 games because of a toe injury that everybody knows is not that serious at all. Probably not, will not play tomorrow night. If leaving Los Angeles is what I decide to do a major reason will be Shaq's child-like selfishness and jealousy. He is not quote unquote big brother. A big brother would've called to support. I heard absolutely nothing from him. I spoke to Devean, Rick, Mitch, Phil, and owner Jerry Buss. Shaq's own uncle called 3 times. Other teammates reached out and left messages like Derek, Mark, and Slava Opponents like Webber, Maggette, and other's left messages. Even Michael Jordan who didn?t have my number tracked me down and left his support, same as Tiger Woods. But yet, nothing, nothing at all from my so called big brother. Asked Phil Sunday to do something before this boils over but he backed away and so were here right now. Apparently, Kobe said even more than this.

Dayam, that's some serious crap.
Kobe's really pissed about the off court stuff and has a shorter fuse than ever now, but I don't blame him for not taking shaq's crap. I'm glad he's not being a pansy about it.
Shaq screwed up the lakers season last year by being out of shape, late surgery etc. and not playing near what he's capable of - he was the laker killer last year, NOT kobe, so shaq should quit worrying about what kobe might do.
And thats deplorable that he never called Kobe in the offseason. Kobe was right, he's no 'big brother' after that and shaq made himself just a 'co-worker' instead.
Hopefully Shaq will just STFU and quit trying to rip the team apart.

Agreed. Shaq really needs to stop the childish antics, I just wish Kobe wouldn't fire back like this publicly, and instead do it to Shaq's face privately. It just makes them look like sandbox 2 year olds.

Well one could easily say, and its true, that Kobe in the years hes been with the Lakers has never tried getting to know anyone. No one on the team knows him personally, no one in the NBA knows him personally, and thats his own doing.

that doesn't explain how, when he was in legal trouble, many players (nearly all his teammates) contacted him in support......except Shaq.

I wouldn't blame Kobe for opting out next year and signing with another team. Then I'd love to see Kobe dunk all over Shaq.

If this doesn't subside between shaq and kobe, I'd expect Kobe to be traded sooner in the season than later. The lakers won't be successful with this level of animosity between the two of them.
In other words if it keeps up, look for Tmac in purple and gold.![]()

Tmac went to Orlando to prove he could carry a team on his own. I'd be very surprised if he came to LA, but wouldn't mind nonetheless.Originally posted by: jjsole If this doesn't subside between shaq and kobe, I'd expect Kobe to be traded sooner in the season than later. I think he's the second best guard in the league to kobe, in fact even a better leader, but he probably realizes by now that he can't do it on his own and needs to play next to atleast one more star/superstar. It would be interesting if he would accept the trade (if he had a choice), because he could have a great run with shaq when its all said and done.
