Shallow habits

No shallow habits for me.

If it had to be one it would be SMOKING. Why? I don't smoke, it smells bad and it is bad for health. I train too much to want to be around smoke with a SO. I'd at least try to get them to stop and if they aren't is is most likely a deal breaker for me. But this is hardly a shallow habit 😛

Some of the most talented, intelligent, controversial, important, and American-Way-of-Life-changing people on our planet have come from the South, you arrogant ass.

Hell, I'll just stick to the people in my own home state of Mississippi:

Jefferson Davis, Jimmy Buffett, William Faulkner, Medgar Evers, Brett Favre, MORGAN FREEMAN, JOHN GRISHAM, FRED HAISE, FAITH MOTHER-F***ING HILL, John Lee Hooker, JIM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FREAKIN' HENSON, Robert Johnson, JAMES EARL I AM DARTH VADER JONES, B.B. KING, Archie Manning, Willie Morris, Steve McNair, and last but not least... ELVIS PRESLEY.

The South (and as you can see, Mississippi in particular) has given a ton of creative and scientific talent to the world, some more influential than others, but we get the bad rap still to this day, thanks to the media, who for some reason believes the only stupid people on the planet can come from the south... and I'm not even scratching the surface of famous people from Mississippi, and if I were to include all the southern states whom have made contributions in the way of people, then I would probably run out of disk space! Where's the emoticon for unbridled Wrath of God-type fury?!

And if you haven't figured it out, I can't date an intolerant person...

What is the one shallow thing that you would reject a potential partner for? Just something little that really shouldn't matter but for some reason you can't help looking for. For me, its the way a guy dresses...if he doesn't have good style it's really hard for me to be attracted to him, even if he's great in every other way. What are yours?

Why don't you show him how? I think a lot of guys that are like that might actually be receptive if you asked.

I don't think you should have to change anything about a person if they are "the one", so why bother trying to fix someone up?

Hahaha

Don't be wroth with me, I can't help it if a certain accent implies ignorance. It's one of those things that works against you when making first impressions. I've spent over 15 years in Texas and have nothing against southern folk in general. I'm not suggesting they're mental midgets per se, just speech impaired.

You know they actually did some sort of study, looked at education and test scores and all that throughout the nation, and the "dumbest" states were in the south. Ha. Sorry. Had to be said.

Sorry for the necromancy here, but I wanted to address something about the Southern accent comments.

I think it's hard not to associate the Southern drawl with ignorance because it's been stereotyped so much. Even as a Southerner by birth (Lafayette, Louisiana), I can't help but immediately prejudge someone if they have a thick Southern accent. To me, though, its no different than prejudging someone with a British accent as snobby, or not being able to help thinking of Crocodile Dundee when talking to an Aussie. It's not that Southerners are dumb, per se, any more than all Brits are snobs or all Aussies carry massive knives and wrestle alligators. But thanks to pop culture and Hollywood, it's hard not to carry around the prejudice that people with a strong Southern accent are less educated.

Whew. I think that was a hijack too.

*ducks*

Did they test all the gangbangers, project kids and runaways in the North?

Sorry, but the South is only viewed as ignorant because we have rural area trailer parks that usually get wiped out by tornados annually and film crews show us Bubba in his stained wife beater and his 9 blood hounds.

Bubba = equally ignorant as said examples from the North, cept Bubba isn't likely to hold you up at gunpoint and/or rape and murder you.

I will take our redneck Bubba's over your Felon Crunks.
