<< Nitrous sucks... but not if you just want to win.. I like having power mods that are just always there.. like headers, exhaust, turbo, etc...

I wouldn't call it cheating... but it's pretty cheap....
>>

Sounds like you're trying to justify spending several grand on the turbo and exhaust when you could have easily just bought a nitrous setup (with reinforced engine components to handle the added boost). Nitrous is a legitimate way of increasing performance. Hell, it has a better price/performance than either a turbo or supercharger.

I hate nitrous because you need to refill the damned bottle all the time. I may not ever resort to nitrous for performance, but I'd have to be out of my mind to call it cheating or cheap.

<< i had just put in 93octane +octane boost today. >>

Why, do you have a high compression engine? Does it ping?

I doubt it.

<< he wasted NOS on you. hahaha >>

LOL.... that's exactly what I was thinking when we stopped into 7-11 to pick up a Big Game ticket... I was like... "that just cost him 20 bucks to even keep up let alone beat me..." god forbid he'd beat me because i have one of the Sh*ttiest engines on market....or was on the market.

<< Why, do you have a high compression engine? Does it ping? I doubt it. >>

Well, I'll tell you what. The 108 octane really makes a difference in my car. I used to fall back at least 3/4 car length on a stock 2001 Ford Ranger, but now I barely beat him. There's my justification.

<< Why where you racing a capri anyway? >>

Because its the car that I own....and since mercury thought it was a sports car, I like to see what their version of a sports car can do. lol... its just fun man.

Nitrous isn't cheating, deceptive or anything else.

The object is to go faster than your competition, period.

Next time your at the drag strip, look under the hood of the big boys cars and see
how much nitrous is used.

I think this is funny as hell. He wasn't cheating. He was having a good time.

I can tell the guy with the Civic has a sense of humor about this, or he never would have installed nitrous. And I bet it cost him next to nothing. That's great!

I'm reminded of "Junkyard Wars."

Still LMAO.

What are you compensating for? Why do you think you should approve threads? It is very annoying and a waste of bandwidth.

You may know the difference between NOS and nitrous, but it seems you don't know much about this.
Kimberly-Clark may own the Kleenex name.
People my misuse the word "Kleenex" to describe facial tissues in general, just as people misuse "NOS" to describe nitrous systems in general.

However, this box of Finast tissues on my desk definitely proves that Kleenex is NOT a monopoly.
Neither is NOS.

And don't even try to tell me that Velcro is a monopoly.

a monopoly doesn't mean they own everything and theirs is the only product. it has to do with market share. i'm sure that Kimberly-Clark owns a LARGE share of the facial tissue market.

I said that NOS was not a monopoly. Kleenex clearly is. This is info from the kimberly clark website:Market research firm ACNielson recently recognized Kleenex and Huggies as among only 43 truly global, billion-dollar brands.

Market share leadership makes K-C an extremely valuable partner to global retailers. K-C products hold the No.1 or No.2 share in 80 countries worldwide.

I haven't found any market percentages yet but I am trying.

Ok found some 1997 stats of market share: The market share of Kleenex facial tissues for 1997 was 49 percent, with a total of 197 billion tissues sold (that's right, they measure this in actual tissues, not boxes); their 1997 retail sales for Kleenex topped out at 1.5 billion dollars. (Okay...nothing to sneeze at. Happy?)

Oh I know sorry if you thought I was directing that at you. You understand what a monopoly is and he doesn't. Monopoly:A situation in which a single company owns all or nearly all of the market for a given type of product or service. So maybe Kleenext isn't a true monopoly with 49%... but pretty damn close.

NOS isn't even close. There are many reputable nitrous companys. Nitrous Express, ZEX, Edelbrock, Compucar, Venom, etc.

Since when did having a global and valuable brand and/or a large market share constitute a monopoly?
Crap, that means I've worked for monopolies all my life.

Having a monopoly means you've got no competition. Kleenex clearly competes with other brands.
Anyway, it's way off the topic of the discussion.

People call nitrous systems "NOS".
People call tissues "Kleenex".
People call hook-and-loop fasteners "Velcro".
People call photocopiers "Xerox Machines".
People call clear tape "Scotch Tape".
People call weenie bikinis "Speedos".

This ain't worth nitpicking over.

Edit: 49% Market share is pretty close to having a monopoly?!?!?!?!
Hardly. That's not even half. This statistic implies that more than half of tissues sold are NOT Kleenex-branded.

No. People don't called nitrous systems NOS. Fast and the Furious started that crap. It was always nitrous to me. You are right it isn't worth nitpicking over. But you were nitpicking me. :)

I heard NOS used interchangeably with nitrous systems years before the fast and the furious brought it to the mainstream moron.
I was merely nitpicking the misleading claim that Kleenex is a monopoly.
