Setting up network manually

I currently run windows XP and want to set up the network so I can see other computers that have shared resources. Before, I used to run the Network Setup Wizard to get my computer to view other computers on the network. Recently, for some reason, my network setup wizard stopped working. When I click on it, it just does absolutely nothing, not even an error message. I am connected through a router and can surf the net with no problems. I was wondering how would I go about to set up the network manually so that I can see other computers on my network? I want the computers to appear in the network neighborhood automatically and not have to manually type in the IP of each computer I want to connect to in windows explorer. I think this might have something to do with netbios settings? I remember someone telling that netbios (or netbui) has something to do with automatically detecting and connecting computers on the network.

Thanks JackMDS for your help, but even after following the instructions on both website, I still cannot see other computers on my network. Is there something else that I can do? Thanks for any help.

Easy way(must be done on each computer):

Go in to network conenctions, open your conenction, click properties, go add/install and choose to add a protocol. Add the one the sasy something like "netbios/nwlink."

Do that on all machines, and you should be able to browse the network assumign that htey are all in the same workgroup.

in internet explorer or in my computer, type \\NAME

where "name" is the computer you wish to browse. You can use either the name or the IP address .
