SETI mini-TeAm Racing

Race! *VaRoom* *VaRoom* 😀

Ok, I would like to set up a SETI mini-TeAm race.

I would have suggested a nice race to catch Journey360
but do you KNOW how long it would take to make 12,000 WUs?
(Well that is what I would need to catch'em)😀

I also enjoy reading about the Feds vs the Cube and was
wondering if we could set up "mini"-Teams that could race?

Other suggestions most welcome.

we could set up some tracking or something, if you want to do it theres a program named setiteam out there that pulls all the team stats each day, so maybe if you were an excel wiz you could put together an index or something. miniteams haven't been all hunky dory on the rc5 side of things... so i think we're staying away from those for now (though if rc5@tacube.com wants to start some seti units be my guest 😀)

Eponymous: That is actually a great idea! With your output you wouldn't need to team with anyone! 😉 Let's see what other response we get.

BTW: Is it lonely up there where you are, with no one around for thousands of WUs?

*look's up* *look's down*

OooohhhhhhhH YEAH! 🙁

I even took a shower! 😀

I can write a PERL script to draw up the status of the race if needed.
We just need to decide what are the rules and who is playing.

(With this post I should now be a "Member"!!!) 😀😀
(He he he he `He said "Member"') 😕 😀

Congratulations on the Member status.😀

What has been your daily WU output lately? The lack of stats makes me ask.:frown:

Im about 10K behind you, i have 6146 or so, average 21 a day so there is no way ill ever catch you but..

I may be able to reach 7000 before you reach 18000😀

Sorry about disappearing like that...🙁

I may be able to reach 7000 before you reach 18000

At first it looked like I had about a 10day lead on you😀

..but with the power outages, system crashes, and SETI going down🙁

I'm not so sure any more. :Q

Oh when I said mini-TeAms I mean we would just add peoples scores
together to figure out how a side was doing, for scoring purposes only.
We wouldn't "offically" be combining scores or some such. (A Gentleman's Race).

Sounds like a good idea ,put like that🙂 (nice & simple so I can understand it!😉😱)

So whose the target?😉
I wonder how many of us it would take to out produce The_One?.................

I wonder how many of us it would take to out produce The_One?

Ambitious aren't we? 😀😉

Although, I suspect the one to chase is Robor. :Q

I think the people chasing OhioDude plus my output would be close to Robor's. 😀

How about this idea?

Let's wait until the reports from www.mattzone.com settle down to where we can get some reliable AVERAGE DAILY OUTPUT numbers. We could combine groups of members into teams that would have the same AVERAGE DAILY OUTPUT. The race could be for a set period of time...a month or two for example. There would be an organizational period where we would get the teams lined up and ready to go. The race could commence on a date specified for so many days (weeks or months).

The team that could "increase" their output the most would win.

Anybody understand this? Or should I elaborate in more detail?

I just tried to check the weekly stats and the page showed a division by zero error and the page was blank. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Where can we see the weekly numbers, ElFenix?

orangekid's has them. i dunno if it will be updated while hes on vacation. and HB has them. sometimes posted by ass1 but its all the same.

Well using the numbers from Soni the highest personal average
seems to be Robor with about 117WU/day. :Q:Q

So should each teams WU Average sum up to about 125 WU/day?

And does it matter if the person doesn't know their playing?😉

Daily or Weekly...doesn't make much difference in order to develop "Power Ratings".

I've worked out an example of how such an idea would look on paper and I'm going to try and paste it to this note. It is on a spreadsheet and looks real neat and organized. It may not looks so good when I put it into the forum reply format. Let's see how it may go.

The Racers who sign up with their average WU production:

RACER AVGWU
A 40
B 33
C 31
D 30
E 29
F 27
G 26
H 25
I 24
J 21
K 20
L 20
M 17
N 15
O 13
P 11
Q 10
R 10
S 10
T 9
U 9
V 8
W 7
X 6
Y 6
Z 6
AA 5
BB 4
CC 4
DD 3
EE 3
FF 3
GG 3
HH 3
II 2
JJ 2
KK 2
LL 1
MM 1
NN 1
Total 500

Dividing the racers up into five teams with about equal production capabilities you could end up with the following "league".

Team 1: A/40, J/21, K/20, T/9, Y/6, DD/3, and MM/1 = 100
Team 2: B/33, I/24, L/20, S/10, X/6, CC/4, and HH/3 = 100
Team 3: C/31, H/25, M/17, R/10, W/7, BB/4, GG/3, II/2, and LL/1 = 100
Team 4: D/30, G/26, N/15, Q/10, V/8, AA/5, FF/3, KK/2, and NN/1 = 100
Team 5: E/29, F/27, O/13, P/11, U/9, Z/6, EE/3, and JJ/2 = 100

Well, that came out looking awful when I tried to paste it from my spreadsheet. :| So I had to type it out, team by team.

The whole point of course is to just create and maintain interest in the project and TeAm AnandTech's production. I would suggest that the races be of shorter durations rather than long. Like maybe one month. Then a new race could be organized with the latest "Power Ratings" used to keep everything (Racers & Mini-Teams) close and competitive.

Hey, I'm just brain-storming here. Let's knock it about or knock it out.😀

Grant, I posted my reply before I saw your last post. I just made an example. The teams could be arranged to allow any and all interested racers participate...even Robor.😀

I would think it would be more interesting if we only allowed racers who asked to be in on the race. They would check in on a daily basis and probably leave posts. The banter back and forth would make it the most fun.

If the races were of short duration, new members could join in the next upcoming race without having to wait too long.

What do you think?

What do you think?

That sounds GREAT!!!

If we get a particularly good/close race we can always just extend
the deadline.

It appears all we would need to do now is form up teams.😉

Why don't we start a new thread with a title something like, "Sign up for a new Mini-Team Seti Race".

And see who's interested. We could post a link to this thread so they can get an idea of how the race will be organized. Or I guess we could just post the rules in the first message of the thread...that'll probably be better.

What say you?

What say you?

Sounds good to me.

Rules:

1) You must be willing to participate and root for your team.

2) Scores will be summed up and posted so you will know how
your team is doing. 1 pt per WU produced during the race.

3) Each team will be divided up to have nearly equal production
potential on each team.

4) A race will last 1-2 months.

5) Each team will be responsible for their team name. 😀

(Did I leave anything important out?)

Hehe, baldy18...no one is going to be left out. We haven't even gotten started yet. 😀

I can't keep my eyes open...going to bed!

Deal with this tomorrow.

Goodnight, Grant😉

Iam just throughing this up in the air, and know betting"s not allowed, but how about some kind of PRIZE for the team that wins. I dont know, maybe each member of a last place team does a days wu"s for each member of the first place team after each round.
