barlav - 100 per pc? thats a little high, even if they're all athlon 1.4s. setiathome considers the WU "lost" after 4 weeks, and they resend it. i believe they'll still credit you if you turn in a result, but you're making more work for their servers than necessary.

Yeah, I wouldn't cache over a weeks worth per PC...the servers are almost never out this long.

I've flush 36 WUs today (from my work fleet). I'll flush about the same amount tomorrow. :)
I've downloaded 60 WUs for my SETIQ work fleet. That's 8-10 days of crunching. :)

Go TeAm Go ! :D

My pc's should be able to process 100 in 4 weeks. 100 is not too much. And, the extra amount of work it may or may not cause their servers in the grand scheme of things is academic. Also, they send WU's out multiple times regardless. Bottom line: 100 per pc doesn't won't hurt a thing!!

I'd atleast lower it to 50 per PC though...think about it...SETI isn't going to have a 2 week or longer outage. :)

I increased my cache from 18 to 25..that is about five days worth for me at my current production rate. I doubt Seti will go down that long again..

barlav, I guess everything you ever say should be taken literally as well.

If you had a need for that many wu's I wouldn't think it was so silly to download that many. This is the longest the seti servers have been down since I've been running the project. I don't really think you're going to cause any problems by downloading 4 times the wu's you need. It just seems to me you over reacted & went crazy downloading.

blade_47, I took your post as a personal attack on me and that is the reason for my response. I'm new to seti@home so I don't have a lot of experience with it. Why didn't you say what you said in your last post the first time?

Sukhoi :)

barlav, I felt like the rest of the guys had already said enough on how many wu's were a good amount to download & how long server outtages normally lasted. I just got the impression that you weren't going to listen to any suggestions or explanations so I wasn't going to bother with any. Maybe I just got the wrong impression from your previous posts.

I can understand you taking my comment as an attack on you. I did include a :) though.:D

Ok now for what I probably should've said to start with:

I've been running S@H for 1.18 years now & this is the longest I can remember the servers being down (they've probably been down longer at times though). I normally keep around 7-12 days worth of wu's cached & never ran out even through the worst outtages. I'd suggest keeping 1-2 weeks worth of wu's cached at all times, this should be more than enough to easily get you through any server outtage. Anything more than that is really not necessary. :)

BTW good to have you on the TeAm.:D
