YW, I guess I should have left a link in case you didn't have it. I am going to miss all the utilities that go with SETI Classic!

I think the guy's on the left coast are doing a great job with this project. In the almost 6 years i'am running Seti it's almost never down . The only 2 others that do a better job with Seti is Hellburner ad OhioDude 😀

Yeah, and you gotta wonder what kind of salaries TA is paying them. 😉

I've had a bit of experience around non-profits and student staffed projects. Students, as most of you know, usually can't volunteer a lot of time for free, what with the enormous expense of school. Most university departments use students for projects, and pay them low wages. because it's all they can afford and no one is willing to do the projects long-term for free.

Same goes for permanent staff. You have to have some permanent staff for continuity and 'institutional memory'. And permanent staff is not paid handsomely in non-profits, I can tell you that from experience.

These guys have done a magnificent job under a lot of technical, budgetary, and political (I'm talking about internal university politics here) constraints. Let's give them a break. Actually, let's give them a big THANKS!

The last from SETI@home:
March 9, 2005
Power Outage Update: We are back up and running full time, and We have enough battery backup in place to keep our servers running 24/7 until the power problems are diagnosed and fixed.

Very true Niege! Many student are working, as I did, in work study programs to get a few extra bucks each week. I was an accounting tutor. I made about $66 a every two weeks, which paid for my food. (eh, it was a few years ago!) 🙂

Thanks Dr. Anderson and team!! And thanks to all our TeAm members who feed us our stats!!

WTH???

I think he was just neffing. He posted in about four threads at nearly the same time with short statements like that. He hasn't replied to my welcome yet.
