Is there a good SETI app that I can use with RH 7.2 & KDE? I tried krunSETI, and that didn't go over too well. Also tried KSETI, and that didn't go well either. Any ideas?

Not sure if the "KSETI" you mention is the same as "KSetiwatch", a pretty cool proggy. There's also KSetispy now (sortof based on Roelof Engelbrecht's Setispy :)).

I downloaded and ran the linux command line interface with Slackware. It ran fine for me other than the fact that I didn't see any progress or anything like that. It was my first stab at a linux machine and seti was the only thing it was running. I just played around with it some.

I am sure that the cli for linux will run on RH 7.2, at least until you find something better.

The windowing environment (KDE) doesn't matter because the client most often used is a text one run in a console or terminal. The only difference would be if you choose to additionally run "xsetiathome", which will give you the graphics similar to the windoze screensaver. But you would need to carefully read the directions in the readme about how to run that along with the regular text client (the 2 must be run together).

There are actually 4 clients for x86 machines. If you have a new machine (P3, T-bird, & higher) and new version of linux, you can usually run the "i686/gnulibc" version of client. Otherwise for older processors (K62 etc) run the i386 one. Old linux distributions would require running the "static" versions. :)

:D :D :D

One day when you finally get the urge, you can setup WINE on there and run the windoze CLI with it (and get a faster WU time). ;)
