Well, I guess Team MacAddict is still cranking out some WU's after all. Guess they just do not feel like posting on the subject of SETI much.

OK, TuffGuy...Check it out now. ;)

This brings up a topic that we (the TeAm) need to discuss.

The following is a list of Team AnandTech Members that have never done 1 WU and have been members for quite a while. All are older than 1 month. This does not include any of the members we have gotten to join us in the last month even though some of them have also not produced 1 WU.

I propose we drop the following members from our team roster.

I dont think we should drop any member off our roster!
What kind of message would that send, make something or get dumped :disgust:

We just have to accept that some members dont make any units, and perhaps try to get them to produce some, maybe by making a teamletter!

I like the team letter idea.

Soni, you have a very good history of the team. Look at the members on the list I have created above and tell us (if you can) how long they have been members. I think these people may have thought about doing SETI and Joining the TeAm but for whatever reason have never followed through.

BTW, they would still be members of Team AnandTech. Only they can UNJOIN/QUIT a team. I'm talking about just removing their name from the current roster. I wouldn't want to do that until we have at least tried the letter. I'll compose up something and see what you all think.

:)

Well, I would hate for someone to decide to start crunching WU's, only to find out their team has booted them for being unproductive for an extended period of time. That being said, SETI@Home is the kind of thing that people start out doing, and some discover there is no instant gratification, so drop it. I would say if they have been inactive for a couple of months, drop them. If they want to do SETI at a later date, they can always rejoin.

SETI@Home=FUN! ;)

Perhaps a special team newsletter to inactive members, requesting their status? Could be some just got frustrated with it like I first did when trying to get the CLI version set up on that LAN, and threw up their hands in disgust. Ask them to confirm if they still have any interest in participating? I would love to see more active people doing SETI and posting here. :D

To the inactive members, I suggest sending them a Team Letter to their SETI registered account. If any of those e-mail get bounced back, we should safely remove those accounts.

Good plan. Who is in charge of stuff like this? Maybe it should be done with one of those anonymous SETI e-mail accounts that were set up?

Edit: Actually, that would probably turn them off, as opposed to the "personal touch." Scratch that idea. :p

Thanks SB, interesting.

IMO all members with ZERO wu's and no activity for 1 year should be removed from the team. If there is a bizzare chance they want to come back, which I seriously doubt, they can always rejoin...no big deal.

Some of this sounds familar, here we go again;)
Maybe now is the time to start Phase 2 ? (ie personal E mails to bigger inactive members to try to get them crunchin again?)

Good idea but wouldn't that be considered spam?

Btw Soni & Smokeball
Do either of you guys remember what the thread was called adressing this issue soem months ago?.I couldn't find it

Assim1,

Ouch... Wouldn't the word "spam" a little harsh in this case?? I call it a "friendly update" :) Plus, when they join Team AnandTech, they should realize that their SETI registered e-mail can be accessed by the Team founder.

Just an idea throwing around though.

Very true ,but I believe there are rules governing what the Email adds can be used for ,though I've never actually seen them myself.

Btw ,didn't mean to be harsh ,sorry;)

Maybe MGALLIK or HELLBURNER could answer this question?;)

Thanks Soni,

BadThad had a pretty good idea, IMHO, we could email those members who have never produced one WU and have been a member for over one year. If they don't respond or respond unfavorably, their name would be deleted from the active roster. Now before someone asks...the "active" roster is my terminology...as far as I know there is no "inactive" or "active" roster...only "the" roster. ;)

That could be setup as a "team policy" and it would be an automatic thing that the team administrators would handle. I could provide "them" with regular updates as to which names should be removed.

I could start by using the history that Soni has provided and keep it chronologically. Perhaps, once a month the purge process could be done.

How say you active members of Team AnandTech?

Going back to the orignal post for just a second (yeah I know) ;)

If CobraIce made his own team and joined it, would he have made the Top TeAms list on production?

CobraIce, aka I'm simply the best! :), aka "The Q", has approximately 190,000 WUs which if he was his own team would make him the #106th Team in the All Groups Category.

Some other interesting things that would take place if CobraIce ever decided to join Team AnandTech (which is what I'm sure some of you might be wondering about) :

1. In not too many days from now, his # of WUs would instantly place Team AnandTech above IBM. :)

2. Adding his daily average to that of Team AnandTech would make Team AnandTech the #1 Team in the World in Daily Average Production. :)

3. And then what would follow...someday in the future, Team AnandTech would become #1 in the World! :)

4. And all the while, CobraIce could be continuing his quest to become the #1 Seti Producer in the World...which also some day in the future would happen! :)

Now, this is not a recruitment thread...it is just playing what if!

;)
