I'm all set to get the following at the end of the month or just after....b-day money coming in next month....
NF7-S
$99 XP-M 2600+
512MB some sort of RAM
HSF cheap
However, New Egg has the following on sale this weekend only:
$127 Intel Pentium 4/ 2.4A GHz 533MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache - Retail
Core: Prescott
The P4 has more L2 cache, a wider FSB & hyperthreading.
And the P4 platform may have a longer lifespan for future upgrades over the AMD A-socket.
I've read that the Prescot core is damn hot.
However, wouldn't OC'ing the XP-M be just as hot?
Yes, I want to save money.
But, $30 isn't much if it returns tons over investing in the AMD.
Thanks for your insight / advice
