So, I'm configuring a PowerEdge 2950 III server for purchase at my work, and we are planning on using it for Virtual servers, kind of a test bed, but a part is for our live content management system, and a demo section for new patches, a test section for development, etc..
To do this we are getting VMWare ESX 3.5i embedded. Long story short, it's just a chip on the board that basically works with a piece of software they use called the "HyperVisor" to allow multiple servers to run at native speeds.
I try to check out and I get an "error: This must be purchased with a ProSupportIT plan".
I call Dell and they tell me due to the "complicated nature of setup and use of this product, we require customers to purchase IT support."
So..you're selling servers...to large institutions, and don't think they have a competent enough IT department to know how to use them?
Makes no sense to me.
/rant over, sorry it sucked.
