You are in Europe where Ford cars are good and well built, but in the U.S. Ford cars are CRAP!

Well their lineup here in the US is weak at the moment because they are transitioning to a bunch of new models.

One such new model that I will be buying come spring of 2007 when I have the money is the Edge

Plus health care costs are skyrocketing as are pension costs etc etc.

Ford/GM/DCX are SO bloated with workers and factories. That is what is killing them.

While they make good cars in your estimation, other companyes, such as Honda and Toyata make much better cars.

They've been building some seriously ugly cars in the US lately. The Fusion and the Five Hundred both bleh imo. And I currently drive a Ford! I love the styling on my 2000 Contour SVT but when they ditched the Contour line here and replaced it with the Focus, good god what an ugly car. At least Mazda is building some good looking cars and helping to keep Ford afloat. I had hopes for Ford when they came out with the new Mustang, but they're starting to get all geometric with their designs, lots of angles and corners. I'm not saying you can't make a beautiful car with that type of styling, Just look at the CTS. But Ford is missing the mark. That being said, I'm definitely loving the new Mustang Shelby GT idea. Cut price Shelby that the masses can purchase, A+ for Ford's marketing there!

i really have to disagree...

BM, Audi, VW, Merc make much better cars. but you also pay the price.

here at least, the jap makers really dont have too much over ford. alot of ford models are nicer to look at, have better design and ergonomics and are just as reliable

we have a top of the range toyota rav 4 and im being honest here.... apart from the leather upholstry, the interior design and quality really isnt any better than my focus which cost me £4k second hand. certainly not that much better to justify over 4x the price.

and as for reliability, i know even the best makers produce lemons, but our rav4 has had a few electrical glitches.

I guess the jap makers are much further ahead of ford in the US than they are in the UK because its certainly not the case that they make much better cars here

My last two new vehicles were Fords. I won't buy another. They are not built Ford tough, they're crap. After driving my wife's Accord over the last 5 years, I think I'll stick with Honda.

Geez, you must be in a huge rush to miss so many letters.

And how are your points any different than any other manufacturer?

blame it on the unions.

With unions, those workers can do whatever the FVCK they want w/o since they can slack 6 out of the 8 hours per day w/o worry that management can fire them, since the union cover their ass.

I really really want to watch them cry when the Big 3 is forced to close most of their plant and shove the big middle finger to all those unionized lazy fvcks and rehire non-unionized, more productive workers.

The days of the union are over, it is not the industrial revolution anymore where people are forced to work 15hours/day in dangerous conditions with no benefit and underpay, nowadays, unions are just set to screw companies.

While its easy to blame the unions and dont get me wrong they are a huge part of the problem. The bigger problem for Ford/GM/DCX is legacy costs and being well, a bit arrogant that oil prices wont rise and that SUVs will always sell like hotcakes. That bubble burst and all 3 companies were caught extremely flatfooted.

That is a result of unions forcing the companies into covering more health costs and retirement plans. Unions fvcked over the big 3 and will continue to do so aslong as they have workers in the factory making the unions money. The unions don't care about the company's. They care about making money NOW. They can't see that what they are doing now will destroy them in the future.

I thought their trucks were the best in the business. They claim to have more trucks on the road with 250K miles or more.

They have also sold more trucks than anyone else ;). Kind of a sneaky ad. campaign.

I wonder why is it that you see a lot of old ford vehicles on the road then. I regularly see early 90's and even late 80's taurus sedan/wagons here in the bay area. If they broke down that often, then why are these still running.

fords made prior to 1992 = good.
fords made after 1992 = cheap junk.

I had thought the problem was retirment and medicail costs eating profits?
And this forum is the first time I've ever heard anyone complain about Ford quality, the run forever. I own a Bronco II, which is on the JD Powers list of the ten all time worst cars ever built. It has a quarter million miles on it (and it's dead now). I also have an F150 that has 260,000 miles on it. In all that time it's needed brakes five or six times, a new clutch and an ignition modual. It's still on the road and going strong.
I just don't see how a truck can last longer than that.
