OP, understand your frustration but there are MANY other sources for what you seek. Vote with your dollars and go somewhere else.

It's free for a reason. Those little DHL trucks sit there until they are full, whether it takes a day or a week. It's free, how do you complain?!? If you want it in a specific time frame pay for the shipping.

The thing is free shipping is only DHL if the item is small. Otherwise it is UPS. My newegg orders (since found another source) used to ship out of memphis. I would always take the free shipping and UPS would get it to me overnight to nashville. Then I ordered a small item that went DHL. 7 business days... to go from Memphis to Nashville. The item was not cheap... just small (RAM). Newegg could have sent it USPS with delivery confirmation for under $1.50 and i would have had it in two days. Surely DHL does not save them a whole lot of money. I couldn't even track it.... well after a day or two DHL would update showing my package was in a Van in St. Louis on its way to kentucky before deciding to turn south to nashville.

Eggsaver is crap, only to be used if you really don't care when something shows up, like buying a Christmas gift now. I'm in the same boat as the OP, I get it next day with 3 day UPS shipping (NJ to CT) but with eggsaver it takes between 5 and 8, going up to Boston first  .

well it's pretty clear you have the option to pay a higher rate for faster shipping.

How is this an issue? Should the merchant drop everything for a minor item to make sure it's in the mail same business day?

Eggsaver was always good for me when it was fedex, but it took almost a week for a memory card to take a trip that is only six hours to drive with DHL's. The tracking on DHL's site never did work and Newegg's was always a day behind. If they had dropped it in the mailbox it would've arrived in two days.

I never did like DHL, I stopped buying from frys.com because of it.

how is this neweggs fault?

you are the moron who chose the slowest/cheapest shipping when you knew it would be slow.

I ordered a flash drive on 10/28 and picked the saver shipping also because I keep forgetting they switched to DHL. Usually with UPS it takes them a day to get it to me. This new shipping with DHL crap they got going sucks but like people have said its cheap. Oh well, just a flash drive.

On a side note, I like the USPS package idea someone had above. A lot of the crap they put in a big box would ship perfectly well in a padded envelope. I'd think everyone would win in that case. Newegg saves packaging materials and cost, and the customer gets the package quicker.

A ton of sites still use UPS or fedex for free ground shipping and do not hold the package for a week before sending it out.

You people would have killed yourselves in the old days. You used to hand fill out your order form, dig around in the drawer for an envelope, hunt down the stamps, realize they raised the postage rate, drive to the post office, buy 12 2¢ stamps, put one of them on your envelope and drop it in the mail. Then 1 short month later, your package arrived :^D

Hey man, you don't understand what it's like to grow up on free next day shipping and then suddenly it's gone. You don't know what its like to go through that, don't you try to tell me you do. Fucking poser.

I don't always pick free shipping. I ordered from Crucial two days ago and paid the extra $8-9 to have my memory prior to the weekend since their is a presentation being done with it.

fwiw, i finally got it today, and newegg sent me a PM to offer any assistance. None needed at this point, but it's great to see newegg's presence on a board.

At least this is one positive in my otherwise crappy week :p

FAIL!

If you wanted it faster, then pay for shipping and don't use the free stuff. What they do is use the cheapest possible carrier - which if it is DHL then they won't actually even deliver it to you. They will drop it off at the nearest major post office. Then you have to wait for the USPS to deliver it.

commercial quote "if your looking to save money, you can't expect to get everything you want"

I did one time spend for 2nd day air and paid them the $2.99 rush fee cause i was in quick need for a replacement mobo...took 4 days, about the time i usually get most of my stuff from NE anyway, now that ticked me off.

this is why i love amazon prime and go to amazon first for shopping for pretty much anything. everything is here in a couple of days. if i cant get it 2-day from prime, odds are good i wont buy it

The best part is when you buy something rather large and/or heavy and get it in one day thanks to the cheap one-day shipping. I bought a TV stand from Amazon, who technically wasn't even the cheapest, but considering the shipping charges that the other companies applied... Amazon was actually quite a bit cheaper!

Although, it all technically divides into my $75 per year fee.
