I ordered a USB flash drive last Tuesday and used the supersaver shipping. For reference, the shipping facility is in NJ and I'm in MD.

Now, I know that it's not going to arrive immediately, because it's the free shipping option, but a week just seems ludicrous. Everything that goes UPS 3day almost always get here in 2. This is a tiny little flash drive, is the damn thing just sitting with DHL, waiting to be delivered at the last possible minute?

I ordered 4 wheels/tires from tirerack *yesterday* and chose to have them mounted/balanced beforehand. And you know what? They got here in 1 day (granted shipping was $100 for 3day UPS).

I just don't get why something so tiny takes so long. You could mail it off USPS for $0.40 (however much a stamp is up to these days) and it would have gotten here sooner

EggSaver shipping is just awful... I usually try looking elsewhere if that's their free/cheap method of shipping. It's also fun when it's a small item and EggSaver is free, but 3-day UPS is around $9.
 
ive had luck getting the same exact things on ebay here faster than neweggs saver shipping. sometimes the seller is even on the opposite coast. and i live in va. ebay is nothing but another storefront for me.
 
Meh, it's only time. I've gone 42 years without the particular item I ordered. Another week or 2 isn't gonna kill me.
 
eggsaver is free lol, what do you expect. At least you didn't order from amazon, their free shipping is a joke, took 2 weeks to get a box of screws.
 
It's slow, but it doesn't particularly bother me. If it's something I want that bad, I'll pay for faster shipping. If I don't want it bad enough to pay for faster shipping, there's a decent chance I'll forget I even ordered it before it gets here.

Thats pretty quick for Amazon's free shipping. 😛 Usually takes closer to a month for me. Never use it because of it, and have complained to Amazon about it before. A free service doesn't need to be on par with the overnight Fedex/UPS option, but there's no reason for it to suck as much as it does.

I feel with the OP though, ordered a 2GB SD Card and a USB cable from the Egg early Monday morning, no movement on the shipping front yet. Kinda want the card before saturday, but its not looking promising.
 
It's free for a reason. Those little DHL trucks sit there until they are full, whether it takes a day or a week. It's free, how do you complain?!? If you want it in a specific time frame pay for the shipping.
 
Newegg free shipping is horribly slow, plus they charge tax. Amazon FTW, fast shipping, cheaper prices, and not sales tax.

Shhh, I wanted to keep him guessing and not realizing that I'm a prime member with the main distribution centers only a 3-5 hour (according to Google maps) drive away 😛.
 
How much was normal shipping on that?

I live in NY and when they ship out of NJ under normal shipping I get the stuff the next day.*

*With rush shipping 🙂
 
We order toner and the occasional computer part from Newegg every couple of months with just the standard (sometimes free) shipping from NJ to MD and it's always "out for delivery" the very next morning. I can't imagine a reason for a flash drive to take so long unless it just sat in the UPS warehouse for a week. Travel time is less than 6 hours even with traffic and traffic jams!
 
I ordered some ram from newegg on a monday using free shipping. It arrived in my state in 3 days then sat there for 4 days until usps finally delivered. fail
 
I will never use eggsaver shipping ever again. It takes way too long and you never know where it really is when its in transit.
 
Eggsaver is only for when you don't care when it gets to you. If you think otherwise, well, sucks to be you 😛

It doesn't use UPS. Typically goes DHL to a USPS terminal, where it probably gets lost for a couple days as the postal service tries to figure out where this DHL package came from lol.
 
this is why i love amazon prime and go to amazon first for shopping for pretty much anything. everything is here in a couple of days. if i cant get it 2-day from prime, odds are good i wont buy it
 
i order most of my stuff through amazon now with prime. Newegg is now a reference site, unless they have the best price on something. Which lately is never really the case. I still consider them the best for computer hardware. They always have it all
There shipping has been ok. I usually wont order eggsaver unless i have to.
