Ummm, you guys are all 18+ adults right? So what's with people saying to call and tell his mommy and daddy?

Just tell the dude you would like him to move out and give him 30 days notice.

shit living with 6 roomies has to suck on all levels. You pick some recreational drug use?

seriously you couldn't have been that good of friends to not know this.

it's also truly sad when in college people recommend calling parents. There are perfectly good counsellors and the like out there. Sadly, people don't want to cut the apron strings today.

I just called the school's counseling center (anonymously) and they're going to give me a call back in a few minutes. I'm going to see what they recommend as options to go forward.

Thanks for the advice everyone, appreciate it.

And yes, he is willingly doing DMT. It has been going on all semester. He's over the deep end.

OP, tell me, what good is your fraternity if there are no guidelines to handle this?

Embrace the real world. Get rid of the room mate and get out of the fraternity.

I wouldn't classify DMT in the same category as crack cocaine and heroin. It's not an addictive drug that gives you severe dependency issues. It's a 5 minute trip and its over. But either way, it sounds like the only issue you have with him having the drugs is that its in your house. But you guys do pot regularly so I don't see the issue. It's not like his drug use is really affecting you guys directly aside from the one time he was screaming on DMT.

I wouldn't have much of an issue with him if it weren't for the fact that he steals things. All the other stuff you don't like him about, you could just ignore him. Oh and learn to lock your doors.

going into our rooms and taking things at his convinence (clothes, random toiletries, etc.). Not a big deal
Not a big deal? lolwut.

You could call the cops. . . but then he will likely get the rest of his drug buddies (e.g. his roommates) in deep shit. Or even if you don't call the cops, he could will eventually find himself in trouble and then bring it to the rest of you. Quite the conundrum.

Get rid of him ASAP. Or leave.

It's not about ratting him out to his parents or expecting that they'll make any more difference in his life than the roommates will.

The thing is that it's not the roommates' problem, and it's not their responsibility to get him into rehab or whatever. That responsibility lies with his family and his friends. That is the reason to call the parents.

That said, I'd call the kid's parents, tell them they have a problem, and if they refuse to intervene, I'd call the police.

Of course, I don't do drugs, so I wouldn't be a hypocrite for it.

It's not that easy in a lot of places if he's on the lease.

They covered this in Seinfeld as well. In the episode where Play Now wants to get rid of George because of his faked handicap but they can't fire him because he's on contract. They lock him out of his own office, everyone has access to his personal bathroom, everyone treats him like shit. The expectation is that they will voluntarily leave. Even if you can't legally force them out, you can change their opinions of whether or not they want to live there.

For starters, mix his drugs up. Put crushed birth control pills in with his cocaine.

Have you done DMT? From what I know of it, it's not really a party drug. It's more of an intense personal experience that can go very bad if you're in a random place. A rave-style party at my undergrad college sent a bunch of people to the hospital because some of the "ecstasy" was DMT, instead of MDMA. It's the active ingredient in iowaska, the shamanic root tea that gives powerful hallucinations and involves lots of vomiting.

It's something reserved for people with serious psychedelic experience, and should only be done in a quiet, safe place. It is not a fratboy party drug, and if used as one, very bad things can happen.

Add to that his other drug use, it's pretty clear that this is just some asshole rich kid who is out of control and playing a dangerous game with drugs that he does not understand. He is causing himself serious damage and potentially could be do so to his frat 'brothers.'

Ayahuasca is quite a bit weaker than straight up DMT crystals that he's probably smoking. But either way, it's not really a dangerous drug. There isn't any known reports of brain damage with it. It's kind of like salvia in the sense that it's one of the strongest psychedelic trips known to man but it only lasts for about 5 minutes and its not something that's addictive.

It doesn't sound like his dumbass roommate uses it as a party drug either. It sounds like he just uses it himself in his room.

But the point I was making in my post is that from the OPs post, I don't really see how Tom's drug use is really affecting them other than them thinking, OMG HARD DRUGZ IN OUR HOUZ! UNACCEPTABLE!
But on the other hand, Tom's stealing and taking things out of other people's rooms without asking is definitely not acceptable and the fact that he didn't stop after being talked to about it is definitely grounds for removal.

Maybe he's a warlock!

druggies...🙄

You've caught him stealing from you numerous times...and you still haven't kicked his ass? OR kicked him out?

Sounds to me like you're getting just what you've asked for.

Haha yup. The weed must be making them all too laid back and the crack guy is going all entrepreneur on their ass.

Lols.

I'm also manly enough to admit I really had no idea what DMT was. I see many of you here having a wikipedia battle :hmm:

call his parents and tell them you want him out, otherwise you are calling the cops. let them handle it, don't trouble yourself any further

This indeed. Call his parents. With that list and the behavior you described, he is to far gone. I used to knew some people who where like that. They are only bad news when they behave like you described. He is to far gone. You have to consider that if the police catches all of you in that house with the list of drugs you mentioned present, it is over for you and your friends because of the guy. Call his parents and explain why they have to get him and haver to get him and make the guy leave. If if goes wrong, you will have serious problems for years.
He no longer cares about anybody but his shit. Maybe his parents can get him to some addict center.

OP, kick his junkie ass out and have his name removed from the lease, then call his parents and tell them their son has a serious problem, end of story on your part.

I'm pretty sure if I split rent with the OP I would try to kick his ass out too just for being such a dumbass about everything.

"Yea I went to wal-mart and bought $45 of toiletries where'd they go? oh you stole them from my room? cool bro lets watch a movie and make fun of Tom."

Or whatever it is you tards do.
