September 11th. National 'blow up America' day?

I don't think it would be in the interests of a terrorist organisation to plan an attack on the anniversary of Sep 11. The day when every American is thinking/worrying about being attacked is not the most clever time to actually initiate an attack.

I doubt that Osama et al are sitting around thinking of a name for Sep 11 (blow up America day!) and a way to 'celebrate' it every year, which involves attacking again on the scale of the first time.

Maybe a bomb will go off somewhere but it's more likely to be set by some nutbag living in the woods somewhere who thinks all college professors are gays who need to die, and uses Sep 11 as a way to draw attention to it.

The terrorists will more likely wait for February 29th to really confuse people.

They already call it "Holy Tuesday".

Being Bin Laden is most likely a rotten lump of flesh on the base of a mountain, I don't think he's calling it anything right about now.

I don't think you fully understand.........these are not your run of the mill nutcases. There is/was relevance to the day, and quite possibly being able to show that they could acheive a terrorist act on the same exact day one year later may hold signifigance to them. Also remember, they do not follow the Georgien calender as we do.

I to doubt and hope not much of anything occurs, but, to simply say they won't would be foolish too. As for OBL..........I just read an article where even a BBC reporter caught al Quada cheifs referring to OBL in the past tense so yeah, I also believe he is "past tense" and attempting to hit the US again exactly one year later may have signifigance to them to help martarise OBL.

For some reason, I don't think the late Pope Gregory XIII would like to be referred to as Georgie. :p

(it's the Gregorian Calendar, FYI)

I agree with ToBeMe,
Just because we're all watching for terror doesn't mean it'd be a bad day to bomb. It's funny, this is a war against terror, and yet we're supposed to be winning. YET we are all TERRIFIED. So the terrorists have won (their job being to terrify). And if they bomb tomorrow, that's even more cause for terror. Because even if we look for the terror, they can still find a way to beat us.

Don't underestimate them. I also believe that going after terrorists is not doing us one cent of good (and I don't want to get into a discussion of "WHAT? You mean we should let them do whatever they want?".

Yeah, as ToBeMe pointed out, the ultimate slap to the face would be bin Laden (or whoever) proving that they could attack the US on the day we were most prepared for it. It show the entire world that we're not nearly as strong as we pretend to be.

Well, at the very least you can't deny the regime change in Afganistan. I think that may be worth at least a few cents of good in the long run.

I hope so. But I'm not a big fan of the US' involvement in foreign affairs (when I look at the track record).
