Senior Gingrich aides resign campaign en masse Edit: More resignations

His campaign always looked to be a major uphill battle. Poop just hit the fan. I've been wondering why he hasn't been in news lately, he was on a cruise in Greece.

I'd say he's toast.

The entire top echelon of Newt Gingrich's presidential campaign resigned on Thursday, a stunning mass exodus that left his bid for the Republican nomination in tatters. But the former House speaker vowed defiantly to remain a candidate.

NBC News confirmed the departures to Gingrich's team, including spokesman Rick Tyler, campaign manager Rob Johnson, and strategists Dave Carney and Sam Dawson.

Other officials said Gingrich was informed that his entire high command was quitting in a meeting at his headquarters in Washington. They cited differences over the direction of the campaign.

NBC also confirmed that South Carolina consultant Katon Dawson and Iowa operative Craig Schoenfeld quit Team Gingrich. The entire full-time staff in Iowa, six aides, also quit.

Also reported by NBC: former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue — who was serving as Gingrich's national campaign co-chair — will now be endorsing Tim Pawlenty.

Scott Rials, a longtime aide who joined the departure, said, "I think the world of him, but at the end of the day we just could not see a clear path to win, and there was a question of commitment."

this is all just a huge waste of time and money, he's un-electable

I like how it says they questioned his commitment. Douchebag has such an issue with being genuine he can't convince even run-of-the-mill GOPer's or RINOs. Sad loser needs to ride into the sunset dying a slow, painful political death.

Who really cares? He never had a chance nor was serious.
Good luck on any republican vs Obama.
I still think we should save all that money they will totally waste on 2012 election,
and just donate it to cancer research.

Perry is going to enter the race soon and then it will be all over most likely. He will probably crush everyone similar to how Bush did in 2000.

Romney may be the only one who lasts beyond New Hampshire.

I can already hear Obama and the Dems "Another governor from Texas, how'd that work out last time *obama smug chuckle*"

answer - a whole lot better than you, obama. A whole hell of a lot better than you.

I would think that Perry is the person who should scare Obama the most.

Something like 50% of all new jobs in the country are being created in Texas.

And the obvious reply to the 'another texas governor' is to ask "four more years of Obama?"

ah, nothing more charming and endearing than republican desperation....

\dream a little dream...
\\and thus fell Gingrich...

The whole team Next quits on Newt, what does that mean?

My only guess has to be a major dispute between Next and his team. As Newt choose one way to sell himself, and his entire team says no way can that work.

But just a guess, exit stage right Newt.

But as long as GOP wack jobs are happy with Perry, no Next is no big loss for anybody.

Why waste any time commenting on Rick Perry, Perry deserves his own thread.

Gingrish is a POS not withstanding he looks like a toad which is unelectable in image is everything USA.

I like Perry too, hope he runs seriously but he seems content on being gov of Texas for life.

Funny everyone from Texas that I know HATES Perry, including my rather conservative father. Yet somehow he keeps getting elected. :hmm:😕

I think many Texans would support him for a (n almost certain failure of a) White House run if it would get him out of the Governors Mansion.

To what? Doctrinaire Repub faith based ideology that crashed the economy & led to 2 endless wars of occupation? The Ryan plan to eliminate capital gains taxes & substitute vouchers for actual medicare payment? Austerity for anybody who's not already Rich?

Not that I'm any fan of Newt, but at least he's not an out-of-his-anti-tax-mind True Believer...

I find it interesting republicans are now too busy eating their own to even focus on Obama, past the anti Obama news bites. It's like.. HERE IS RICK SANTORUM... QUE UP THE AUDIO TAPE.
Even right wing radio i.e. Rush has begun feeding on republicans.
With the tea baggers figured in, that just might split the republican party and hang them out to dry for several long election cycles.

It won't much matter if the win the White House. They are on track to pick up the Senate. Obama will be effectively stopped doing what he wanted to, although he pretty much already is with the GOP majority in the House.

his comittment to actually run for president, obviously.

a real candidate would be campaigning in Iowa and NH and nationally right now, not vacation in Greece and jotting off the occasional twitter update.

can't blame his staff, they probably want to get in on the ground floor of a campaign that might really have a shot.

Since you put soooo much faith in blind polls, and feel they are always right, what about this poll?

It's a good thing Rick Perry says he's not running for president: Only 4 percent of Texas Republicans say they'd vote for the governor, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

You going to bail on Perry now, or magically decide this poll doesn't mean anything? Because by your standards, it's all over with numbers that bad.

I'm surprised in a way. Of all the dwarfs (excluding Romney) running for the GOP nomination I expected the Newt to have the most professional campaign, it's amazing how he has stumbled from meltdown to meltdown to meltdown so quickly. I'd feel sorry for him, but then I remember what a pathological scumbag he is-it's karma in operation.

With luck he'll be damaged goods when he returns to the speaking circuit and will no longer get the big bucks there.
