there's this little thing us old-timers like to call "e-mail"...

anyways, congratulations on completing a successful project, if you aren't trying to do something bad 😛 🙂

lol well i dont know everyones email addy on my buddy list, plus its a lot faster than email, thats why i made it

isnt that called Yahoo Messenger? 😛

have a few friends start using that and i actually prefer it over AIM now.. though i use trillian for everything else (aol im, msn, icq).

I just tried it out - it works for me and I'm sure I'll be using it more often, ASSUMING you don't log our screen names (which it looks like you do)...can you offer any proof of privacy?

oo. quick to shoot it down after 2 minutes of research
oo. someone's jealous that someone else is a better coder than that someone.

A fellow ATer made something cool, don't be a prick and jump on his back.

it does keep a list of screen names that have used it, so we know how many unique people used it. this is so we can keep track of how many new people are using it, i can estimate the load of messageserver in the future. for example i had to make it use multiable buddly lists because the limit of one buddy list is 200 unique sns but messageserver has more than 200 messages to unique sn's. so it's now load balanced over 5 sn's.... this is the reason why it logs the sn's so i know usage statistics.

So, TazX2k, instead of just bumping the thread, are you going to answer that and all other questions regarding your software?

how do you consider that bumping?

...never expected this much criticism on something that was designed to make our online lives more convient, this is a feature that should be default on aim, just like icq

Well, for someone advertising their product, trying to get more customers, one would think that the advertiser wouldn't be so dodging of questions and shady. You haven't answered people's questions and have been quite suspicious.

I won't ever use MessageServer because you're coming across as a lowlife with some sort of trick up his sleeve. After all... your profile is hidden. You don't allow Private Messages. What the hell is that all about if you're all about messaging, etc.?

It's just way too many things that add up to one big thing: bullsh|t.

Product, eh? Man people are quick to jump on this guy's back. Seems to me that he just wanted to add a pretty neat feature that AIM doesn't have. I don't see what he's advertising... and if he has my screen name? Big deal, what's he gonna do with that... IM me? That's fine with me, and if it turns out to be not fine with me, then I'll just use block. Thanks TazX2k I'll check this MessageServer thing out. 🙂

Apparantly, you don't use ICQ. I wish you knew how annoying IM spam was.

I considered it bumping because when I replied to your last comment, you had nothing there. It was a blank reply....therefore considered bumping.

I've used ICQ in the past. That was one of the features I really liked about it. However, not many ppl I know use ICQ, so that's why I like having this feature in AIM. And no, I don't know how annoying IM spam is... it's really very odd... people who aren't on my buddylist can IM me, but I never get random IM's! 🙂

alright alright. that blank post, well it did not go through because i logged in and did not realize that i also had to type my reply while i was logging in (i'm new to this forum, and most forums make you log in first.. as you can see i dont have fifty thousand million posts), then for my profile being hidden and not being able to accept private messages... is this in this forum?, how am i supposed to know if its hidden or i'm in stealth mode or whatever you think it is. if you think its some sort of scam, lol fine, but i dont know how you can turn this product into scam... maybe spam?, if you think i can spam with it, no i'm already having enough trouble managing the resources it has and that would just kill it, but even if it could, wouldent it make a lot more sence if there was a line of advertizement on the top of the im or in its profile? this way i can keep people using it and everyone is happy?... ms is also non profit, hence the .org url. Even the webhosting of messageserver.org is donated, it mostly runs off of people having ecess resources and are willing to donate some.
i'm just a programer that wanted to contribute something to the community, look at messageservers profile, you dont have to im it or anything if your scared of it, but you will find that i make my information publicly available, email, sn, voicemail/fax, and webpage. if this were a scam, i dont think i would do that. also ffm said "You haven't answered people's questions and have been quite suspicious." i'm sorry if i missed something but what have i not answered?

thanks to everyone sticking up for me. 🙂
