Might need to be the bigger hammer:

If there was ever a member of Congress that deserved to be censured just on general principles, it is that witch of an idiot. She needs to be censured, then admitted for a comprehensive mental status evaluation at Walter Reed.

Of course, in her own way, she probably isn't any worse than Cruz, Hawley, and McCarthy. Just more blatant in her insanity.

As far as the filibuster is concerned, it needs to be permanently disposed of. All the filibuster does is gives members of Congress the ability not to do their jobs by allowing them to avoid voting on things they don't want to take a position on.

I suspect that any semblance of peace will go out the window as soon as the Senate makes a vote on whether to convict the Great Orange Turd in his second impeachment.

If Collins, Romney, etc are no votes on Biden’s COVID relief bill then the only options are to swing the axe the on the filibuster or punt to a reconciliation package.

Filibuster seems very doomed sooner or later.

Collins, Romney, and Murkowski aren't enough to kill GOP filibusters and Manchin is going to be an impossible sell on removing the filibuster. Especially since Biden and Clyburn aren't going to let Dear Nazi's trial go to the senate while there would be momentum to get him convicted. As it looks right now Machin is going to have to run in 2024 against a ticket that's going to be lead by Trump. You have to eliminate Trump from ever being able to hold public office again for there to be any chance of budging Manchin into nuking the filibuster.

The issues isn't the Senate as a whole, but the committees. Committees have no majority, they will have equal members of both parties. That is why there needs to be some type of compromise or many important issues will never make it out of committees to the floor.

Last I read the negotiations on bills coming out of the committees was that they would do so if the committee was tied.

i think the last time it was handled with 50/50 split:
committee chair is of the party of the vp.
sub-chairs were helmed by the other party.

also, committees are an even # of people?

This is the truly ugly part of politics. This is what turns people off to politics and elections and voting. So.... I don't really get this but hearing that even though the Ds control the senate but that McConnell can still get in the way? This is what I hate about both Ds and Rs, the Rs always find some little gimmick or some weird obscure law or procedure to give them the advantage over the democrats when they lawfully should have no advantage. Where as, the Ds always seen to fall to the side and unable to do the same. Ds fail to gain the upper hand by using some weird political procedure or using some obscure tactic. What is it that Rs can always find a way and yet the Ds always fail do the same???

You'd think this was simple as simply can be..... The Ds won two senate seats in Georgia handing the Ds their winning ticket to control of the US senate. So democrats pulled that off but now Mitch McConnell found a way to keep control? Is this what we are looking at here? HOW???? WHY???? WTF????

I do agree 100% with the mentioned above... That if democrats after winning the senate still can not get their act together or get their stuff done or... simply control the senate as everyone assumed after winning Georgia, then come 2022 the democrats will most definitely lose it all. The democrats will lose the senate in 2022, lose the house, and then with only two years remaining before Donald Trump runs again in 2024. Should democrats screw this up, Donald Trump will definitely run in 2024.... and will probably get elected.... and the 4 years of Joe Biden will be like they never happened.

Sometimes I wonder if the problem is with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer? Seems like every two steps democrats gain forward, the republicans come along and knock the democrats back three steps. Could be a simply matter as outdated leadership within the democratic party? I'm starting to think so.

I can't speak for Schumer, but Pelosi has been doing fine and overall had been a very successful speaker. Republicans have it "easy" since they only care about saying no and tax cuts. Democrats have a big tent to wrangle whenever they want to pass anything.

Bring the pain

Shouldn't even be a question. With how the repugs have acted since 2008, anyone contemplating playing nice with these proto-traitors and religious poseurs should have their head examined.

Remember 2010, remember how these repugs wiped their asses with the Constitution for 4 years. Act accordingly!

Maybe, it's only day 2 of the Biden presidency and the Trumpublicans are already grasping for more power and influence. Oh, and doing insane shit. SMH.
Ugh... Collins whining another COVID relief bill too soon. Cornyn saying they're too old n tired too run impeachment trial AND confirm JB appointees concurrently.

Fuck it. Hammer time!

Honestly, I didn't want an impeachment because I knew the republicans would pull this shit (not because it was without merit). Collins is useless, just useless. Should have passed the larger bill the Dems wanted last fall anyway - freaking idiots. It's like the Dems need an asshole-evil-genius like McConnell as the Senate leader.
