At which point Via will enter the market with the Mega-Uber Emperor Penguin edition card that will make the 690 and 7990 look like watch calculators. :D

Or AMD and nVidia will both have cards which offer good performance at certain price points, and consumers will be happy that they have a range of choices when buying discrete graphics cards.

Damn, I'm no fun.

Well remember that Tahiti XT is not as efficient per mm2 as Pitcairn, because it has quite a bit of HPC stuff inside. If they made compromises there with GK104 I can see it matching Tahiti XT or even be faster. 295/212=140%. IF they could achieve a good perf/mm2 ratio that could put GK104 30-40% faster than the 7870.

So? There is more to HPC than pure processing power. DP-performance, ECC, larger caches...what chip will they put in their Firestream products: Tahiti or Pitcairn? I guess Tahiti.
Also Tahiti is probably held back by the lackluster frontend. It's not enough to feed all the units properly. That has always been a problem for AMD as of late. With all the processing and texturing power it should be twice as fast as a GTX580.

Wow 300mm^2 is incredibly small given it's expected performance! This is making me wonder how GK106 is going to end up (specs, size, and performance). GK104 may overtake Tahiti, but I think Pitcairn will pose a tougher challenge to GK106. Regardless, the die size of GK104 is awesome and that means if prices are inflated at release due to production capacity at TSMC, once capacity picks up there should be plenty of wiggle room for GK104 to get some serious price drops!

Oh man, I was hoping to have some leaks or info to read through instead it just you guys going over the same old same :p

WTB leaks! Dammit! I bought her a GTX 560 Ti as a temp card (Best Buy charges $300 beans for these things!? WTF mate, and we're complaining about ~$250 for a FASTER HD 7850!?)

I forgot how much Retail prices SUCK! Glad I can return it no questions asked within 30 days :D Bring on Kepler!

Wait, you bought a card knowing it's just temporary until Kepler gets here? :D

I like the way you troll Bestbuy! :awe:

Haha basically. Since she's getting my old parts (minus HDD/GPU) and I sold off her old PC (minus HDD) to buy her a new GPU, she was going to go without a videocard well until Kepler releases.

So nVidia got 30 days or I'm stuck with a GTX 560 Ti haha.
