Isnt their calendar based on the solar system? So maybe the solar system and star allignments are just going back to how they started when the calendar began? You have to admit tho, it is just strange though how many dif cultures predicted around that year to be the "end of the world".

If I remember correctly, you have the right idea but are a little off. They had a bunch of calendar units (like our day, month, year, etc), the largest of which was based on the alignment of our solar system with galactic center and/or some other star.

Essentially, you're right because it just means all of the necessary celestial bodies are in the same place as when they started their calendar.

Also, most astronomers will tell you that the Mayans were a little off, and this alignment has already passed. (I believe it we were pretty much aligned on the solstices of 1996 and the few years after that.)

The "alignment" lasts something like 14 fucking years and started in 1998. If I remember correctly it's that the sun at solstice happens to be in the plane of the galaxy from our point of view, but so fucking what if it is? I don't get why people get so fascinated by "alignments" in the sky. I mean I love to watch an eclipse like anyone else and it's always a pretty special sight to see Venus, Jupiter and the moon within a few degrees of one another, but I don't understand why people think that some dubious alignments could possibly have any sort of effect on Earth.

the same alarmist KOOKS that brought us y2k and global warming are now frothing over 2012. Alarmism is their behavioral characteristic. Look for a way to profit from their psychosis. Most of em are walking around with their wallets open. They convert their self imposed guilt to money and are more then willing to part with it.

I already called you out in another thread about this but you never responded, so I'll repeat myself.

Y2K was real, the "alarmism" was justified and lead to people doing what needed to be done to fix the situation. We didn't have any major Y2K effects because of the "alarmism", not despite it.

Researchers in global warming (who overwhelmingly agree that it's a serious issue) tend to be scientists, among the top 10% of people intellectually. Please show me a shred of evidence that a significant portion of scientists believe in the 2012 incident. Even show me 3 or 4 (you could probably find 1 or 2 outliers, but I seriously doubt more than that).

Of course I don't expect a response from you, because you're a coward. You duck into threads, hit your "eco KOOK" macro keys and leave.

..I'm glad your drinking the green kool aid. I've positioned my self to greatly profit from your eco-theism. Your green will be mine. And I'll be green too. So guzzle the kook koolaid. I love the revenue.

I just have to get this off my chest...

The movie 2012 looks retarded and I can't believe people would waste their money to see this.

Beyond that, what is with all these retards who think that the world is going to send in 2012? All the REAL research I've done indicates that the Mayan calendar gives no real indication of the end of the world.

But, lets just say the Mayan calendar did predict the end of the world. The Mayan also believed that Gods controlled the weather and fertility of their crops. They didn't understand the most basic functions of our planet, but yet they can predict the END OF THE FUCKING WORLD!? Give me a break.

Sorry, just had to get that out.

2012 was never about the end of the world. go back and do some more research.
