I'm pulling your chain with the Meshuggah stuff (although I do LOVE it), but really you're being an old fogey. It is true that there are no good POP bands out there any more, it's all over produced crap. "Metal" is one of the few places in music in general that I have watched progression unfold rather than stagnation ensue. I don't expect you to like it, but hey, no one is forcing it upon you especially considering that metal music, real metal is nowhere near mainstream. You have to look for it to listen to it.

You want something to complain about? How about all of these bullshit classic rock stations that absolutely disrespect all of the great bands from the 60's and 70's by playing the same goddamn songs to DEATH. If you listen to any classic rock station you will hear the following:
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Eagles - Hotel California
Peter Frampton - Do You Feel Like We Do
Who - Don't Get Fooled Again/Pinball Wizard
Zeppelin - Stairway
Hendrix - Foxy Lady
Pink Floyd - Breathe/On the Run/Time
Now rewind the fucking tape and play it again for the next 23 hours of the day. All of these bands have huge reportoires (sp?) of fantastic music, and you will never hear it on a classic rock station.

You hit the nail right on the head, I've been bitchin about this for years, hell almost any song from "Physical graffiti" by Zep is awesome but what gets played? "Kashmir" over and over and to me it's one of the few boring songs on the whole album, same with the Stones, "sympathy for the devil" or "start me up" are the only 2 songs that get played it's disgusting, Hendrix, you would think they would slip in "Red house" or "Little wing" now and again??, nope, Foxy lady or purple haze and that's it

fantastic song from a fantastic band, but again, this song was written in the late 70's i think? he's right when he says there isn't much good coming out of the music industry these days. maybe it's simply that all the good ideas have been thought of already.

If you want to hear from a '70's duo who were WAY ahead of their time check out Sparks, "My other voice", really really trippy IMO..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGpIrTXLT58
