I've always loved the look of audi's and when I was younger I wanted to get one one day. Now that I could afford one I still love the looks but the price to performance ratio is just horrible, and I just can't justify it.

What gas mileage do you get out of a Subaru with equivalent performance to PricklyPete's A4? I'm guessing low 20s...

Dunno. I don't own anything that runs a 14+ second quarter. :p Regardless, you made a blanket Subaru statement, not "STi."

They don't care about the fit and finish either. They care about the BADGE.

Well there are reasons why those badge are what they are. Like years of track record putting out quality cars and excellent customer service, vs. years of putting out cars with lousy quality.

Not to say CTS-V has crappy quality, but GM hasn't done anything to prove themselves in the mid-high end market, and when you spend 50k+, you'd want a car that would last for a while and not a car that would do 0~60 in 3.9 sec but the front door fall off after a year.

so what you're saying is to never buy an S8, 7series, etc.

(they are the most high end, but frequently have problems due to all the high tech stuff)

Eh. I've gotten 28 mpg out of my Subaru doing a constant 80 on the highway for ~400 miles. It also can go 0-60 in ~4.7-4.8 seconds and mid 13 quarter mile.

it usually helps to be a little more qualifying on what Subaru you are talking about.

Up until now, the Impreza got mid 20s gas mileage

A buddy of mine gets 32mpg in his '05 Legacy GT. Regardless, I think we've conclusively proven your "Subaru sure as hell can't" statement is simply false. ;)
