The alternative is the doc turning down accepting new patients. If there are no other specialists in the area, what are the patients supposed to do?

There aren't many specialists in my area at all. If faced with the need I would do what I had to do and travel.

I have read that being a specialist is the only way to go as far as making the big bucks nowadays. Regular docs aren't cutting it like they used to.

Hopefully, more go into specialties so that monopolies will lessen and these long wait times for appts and in the waiting rooms will improve.

Actually there are very few under-represented specialties. OB/GYN just happens to be one of them.

Maybe if we get some Malpractice reform...

I have a low tolerance for bullshit in Dr.'s offices. There is no way I am waiting 2 hours in their waiting room. My time is important too.

The doctor being called out for an emergency is unavoidable. Hard to take that out on him.

Try getting the first appt. after lunch, usually the 1:00 appt. Sometimes that helps.

Part of the trade off of moving to an area with reasonable housing costs is a dearth of docs. Come back to MA, we have more docs & hospitals than most places.

Although waits are extending even here to see PCPs, a result of mandatory health insurance.

My wife had to see an ENT. We went to two appointments both were an hour late. I asked on the 2nd one why it was always an hour late. The desk said the doctor always seemed an hour behind. I asked why they just didn't space the appointments out an hour. She laughed at me.

Then I asked if we could just show up an hour late. She said no the policy was that we needed to be there 15 minutes before the appointment if we wanted to see the doctor.

So the guy knows he will be an hour late, and he wants me to sit there the whole damn time. We found a new specialist.

This used to be the case, but it's changing now. Specialists (some more than others) are taking massive pay cuts to promote more physicians entering primary care. I've heard some cardiologists looking at slightly over 30% reduction in pay.

A friend recently moved and saw a new doctor. The Dr.'s office informed him that after this, his first visit with this Dr., if he wanted to continue to see him, he would be subject to a yearly $500 consultation fee for the right to keep him as a patient. He's looking for another Dr.

Server case physician pummeling is a sadly lost art . . . or perhaps one that was never found to begin with.

But that's not important now . . . what is important is that the procedure be done ergonomically. Balance is the key.

Grasp your case with your two hands evenly spaced apart and swing horizontally from left to right at the head level at the offending medical professional. Then repeat, but this time from right to left.

Be sure to adjust your swing height as the specialist begins to crumple to the floor. You don't want to swing with full force and miss! That might easily put your back out all by itself, and would be a tragic waste of your criminally insane anger to boot!

Be sure to scream unrelated gibberish such as "Paraguay is NOT Uruguay" as you swing. It helps to confuse your target and make them easier prey.

Hah, laughable. Kiss 12+ years of your life goodbye to be a doctor thats 300K or more in debt and tell me whose time is a bit more valuable. You deserve to be billed if you dont give notice. They could've seen another patient.
