What flavor are you running? Just the AV or one of the corprate editions?

See my post above, i'm still not detecting two of the eight. Seems most Norton users report about the same as me but a few have said Norton's is catching everything

I still don't see how you guys can use your comps knowing your scanner missed even one virus.

better than no virus protection at all, which i'm guessing, would be the majority of most computers out there

not to mention, that i'm not a farking idiot, and i don't open unknown files, emails, etc.

Yep using common sense with any anti-virus software goes a long way.I`ve tried a few different AV programs over the last few weeks and think I`ll be sticking with Bitdefender 7.2 Pro,the updates are virtually everyday which is great support.

Well that's obvious, but it still means the scanner you're using is lacking. Whatever, it's your computer; rationalize all you want. :D:beer:

Yeah, I mean NAV and Panda cost the same so why not use the better one? I do realize that some of us have OEM NAV which came with our machines or can do competitive upgrades with rebates the make it almost free, I guess I can see why someone might just use NAV in those cases. I have a 6 month OEM copy that still has 4 months on it, but I'm switching to Panda so I don't have 20 different programs installed that come with NAV. Anyhow it looks like Panda is running 4-5 processes on my machine with active protection on. I'm going to see if I can reduce those a bit.

I have the full versions of Nav 2002, Nav 2003, and Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.0 thanks to my school--but all of them missed a few viruses, even after being completely updated and set to their highest heuristics protection. That just doesn't sit well with me. There's also the fact that NAV is a system hog, and Panda found all the virii--that's why I'm giving Panda a shot. I've seen first hand what a virus can do to your computer and I don't want that headache again (and the computer was running NAV and it didn't stop it either, now that I think about it. LOL)

Yea, I noticed that too. There's a few running under the user, and one or two under the system processes as well. Nothing to be worried about, I guess, but come on, at least NAV only had 2 or 3 at the most. Unless you're updating, sigh...

Regardless I don't mind Panda right now, I've made the switch and it seems to be fine. I don't notice much of a difference though, I guess I shouldn't right?

I`ve just had 2 updates today with Bitdefender 7.2 Pro,last update was yesterday, personally I see no reason to change to Panda ;).

Anyway stick with what you`re happy with, that`s what counts.

Indeed. My only complaint with Panda is their support staff doesn't respond to emails. One of their support people, Jocelyn, must have accidentally hit Yes on a pop up window in outlook which responded to my request for a read receipt...so I know they got my email! :disgust:

Alan @ Panda told me that support might be slow to respond because of the Bagle.B and Netsky.B threats.. especially Netsky which is a big prob right now.

Also, so what if Panda has 4-5 processes running and Norton has 2? I guarantee you Norton's are far more system-obtrusive than Panda's. It doesn't matter how many are running, it matters what the processes are doing and how much CPU they're eating up (or how they're affecting your system).

AFAIK the 5 processes on my system are taking about 40,000K of memory.
Pavsrv51.exe - 4,668K - Default User
PacPrSrv.exe - 1,020K - Default User
Apvxdwin.exe - 5,212L - Default User
AVengine.exe - 13,084K - System Process
WebProxy.exe - 15,384K - Default User
