Seattle officer punches girl in face during jaywalking stop

If this happened in California, I would have been on the ground laughing when all the on lookers with cell phones and video cameras got charged with video taping a police officer without his consent.

They have been talking about it for a while but haven't pulled the trigger.
I know some cities are also talking about it but also haven't pulled the trigger.

ass clown

uh whut? You don't need anyone's consent to video tape them in public. You have no right or expectation of privacy in public.

What are you talking about?

Retracted.

There are laws in other states where it is illegal to record a police officer without his consent, even in public.

I could have sworn a law like this passed in CA but after some searching it looks like it hasnt...yet.

he was surrounded by hostiles and apparently alone. fair enough.
i'm only surprised he seemed to lack upper body strength to subdue her. or he was holding back way too much. he was exposed to have his gun grabbed more than a few times because he didn't control the idiots faster.

Haha...she got what she deserved. Simple jaywalking ticket? Just shut-up, take the ticket and contest later, no problems.

She wasn't even the one being man-handled at first. Stupid idiot tries to scuffle with the cop holding her friend...what an idiot!

Unfortunately the city will probably settle her lawsuit for some $$.

1. They got what they deserved. If they just took the ticket they wouldn't have gotten arrested.
2. Jaywalking here in Phoenix is terrible. I've had teenagers walk out into traffic in the middle of a 45 mph road and expect you to slam on your brakes. People will be standing 20 feet from a cross walk and still walk out into the middle of a busy road, at night, wearing dark clothing, when there's oncoming traffic. If they run out in front of you and you hit them you better believe the idiots are going to try and sue you. They should be handing out jaywalking tickets to all of those idiots that think they can walk where ever they want and the cars will just swerve around them.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but Seattle police are notorious for their crackdowns on jaywalkers. Transplants from New York City seem to get a kick out of it.

1. I was all ready to come in here and "LOLAmerica" from the thread title, but that bitch deserved it, so good on the cop.

2. LOLAmerica, your cops arrest people for jaywalking? What's it like to live in a "free" country?

In most cities that I have been to; this seems to be a common address for an area of town that has trouble written all over it.

Miami, DC, Ft worth, Denver, Las Vegas, etc.

Cities do this on purpose, in Long Beach if you go to MLK it's one of the more bad streets in the town. If you travel up it at one point the name changes to something else and the houses are much nicer. As soon as you're past the nice homes it turns back into MLK, never seen a street do that before. I don't know the exact reasoning but all these cities have a reason for placing MLK Bvld's where they do. They typically are in the worst areas and I don't think that's by coincidence.

Next time you Jaywalk you should be punched, tased and jailed.

Stop breaking the law

speedings breaking law and I bet you speed. Much more accidents are caused due to people speeding. Jay Walking should literally be at the bottom of the list, they should be pulling over idiots who are speeding.

Three states now have it a felony to record police, 5-15 years prison time.

They are working on making it a Federal offense.

I set my cruise at all times and normally 5 miles below the speed limit.

As I got older I enjoy slowing down idiots that are speeding.

You must one one of them
.

A jaywalking zealot cop in a big city deserves sh!t as far as I'm concerned, but that doesn't mean he handled it wrong.

He actually wasn't strong-arming enough and also should have called for backup. While wrestling with the one girl, the other got close behind him and could have easily gone for his gun. If he fvcked anything up, it's leaving himself wide open like that.

It's not free, it's a Nanny State

Keep up with the program already, sheesh.

What's funny is you fools think this was about about Jaywalking. I'm 99.9% sure cop said hey girls "wait for signal and walk the x-walk." They said "fuck you piggy" or something to that effect and got sweated and shit escalated from there.

99.9% without knowing is pretty impressive. I'm 99.9% sure it started by him calling them dumb black bitches. Bottom line he's a cop and they acted up and got punched. the 99.9% is simply speculation on your and my part.

wait wtf it's illegal to video an officer? why? that makes absolutely NO sense, if that's the case it should be illegal to tape ANYONE without consent

Christopher Drew, who recorded his own arrest for selling one-dollar artwork on the streets of Chicago. Although the misdemeanor charges of not having a peddler's license and peddling in a prohibited area were dropped, Drew is being prosecuted for illegal recording, a Class I felony punishable by 4 to 15 years in prison

2 reasons.

1. people blow shit out of proportions when the see the video. Should this cop have punched her? No, I don't think so. But I'm not outraged by his actions, many will be though.

and 2. Cops can't "do their job" if they're being video tapes. A cop can't open a can of whoop-ass if they know they're being video taped. Apparently in some states it's a big time crime to video tape police. Which tells me it's okay for a cop to beat the shit out of me if he's in the mood, regardless of if I did anything or not. But I damn well better not video tape him doing so or it could land me in prison for years. And prison's where they send the serious criminals.
