He saw them jaywalking and just asked them to talk to him. He wasn't necessarily giving them tickets, probably just a warning.

This exactly, I've rarely seen anyone get ticketed for jaywalking. Normally its just verbal knock it off warning.

To anyone who whines about what this cop did Ill have to ask what the douchey camera man was asking.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?

This cop was dealing with two stupid ass girls who were resisting arrest while surrounded by a crowd of people that could possibly become hostile. One cop against all of that I am very surprised he did not pull out a tazer or a gun. Watching that video, how can anyone have any sympathy for those dumb ass bitches?

You can always spot when the perp makes the decision to have the officer escalate use of force. Pretty evident here.

It is ALWAYS the perps decision to have this stuff happen to them. Decisions, such as this dumb one by the chic, have consequences.

I'm one who usually sides with civilians in these crazy cop videos, but after watching the video the cop absolutely behaved appropriately. WTF are these girls doing resisting him? And only for JAYWALKING?! He likely would've just given them a talking to if they were nice, maybe a ticket if they lipped off. But getting physical with a cop? Please. Self-righteous and arrogant kids. He only popped her in the face to diffuse the situation and get back to one-on-one with the other person. If he really wanted to he could've no doubt planted her on her ass and broken her jaw and/or his fist. But he didn't.

Good job by that cop.

I see people mentioning mace, pepper spray, and tasers. You have obviously not used these items. They do NOT work and are NOT appropriate in a close hand-to-hand brawl like these. It would've been irresponsible for him to use them.

Oh hell, that was a lite punch, a open handed slap would have been about the same.

If i had to put up with that kind of shit, it would have been a lot worse. But this is why i try and avoid dealing with the general public.

I think it's best to be polite to officers unless there is some major reason not to be. Mouthing off and grabbing them.. not too bright.

Cop: "Stop, you're under arrest."
Woman: "Ah, hell naw!"
Cop: "Sorry to bother you, have a nice day."

Anything less is abuse of power, a violation of civil rights and obvious racism.

Exactly regardless of how you feel about cops its best to immediately revert to boy scout mode.

He didn't have a choice, they are all up in his grill

Fixed.

Officer was wrong. He should have punched both girls. But he was outnumbered and that could have escalated the situation to a point where he'd have to shoot someone, so I guess he did the right thing by only punching the one.

I think the officer did a pretty good job at not using force. The first lady was obviously resisting and causing a public disturbance. Her friend was obstructing justice. Both of them were battering the officer by merely putting their hands on him. I think the way this guy handled it was pretty commendable; he had justification to take out his night stick, but just gave her a pretty weak jab to the face to put her into shock long enough to get the cuffs on more easily.

I can see the race card coming out on this, but, also, there were several black people around watching. I'd think they would have come to her assistance if they felt the officer was using excessive force. More likely, they were sitting there thinking to themselves "man, this lady is an idiot for sitting here arguing with a cop and striking him, she got what she deserved." Everyone knows, black or white, you don't screw with the police -- unless they just start beating you relentlessly when you're fully complying with them or something.

Both were resisting arrest, obstructing an officer and assaulted the officer. Both should have had a serious beat down but then I could only be a cop in Russia. We coddle criminals here which is why we have so many and general lawlessness.

What about the idiot in the background saying "are you serious, are you serious"

Black people think they get some sort of ill treatment but most of the time its because they are asking for it. They just have more combative personalities

I see nothing wrong. She attacked him, he fought back. Bitch wants to talk like a man and act like a man, so she can take a punch like a man.

Based on the video I'd say the cop defended himself against an assailant. Everyone would be wise to just let this drop. It does no good for the girl to be seriously punished, she wont learn a lesson from it.
And no one is going to convict the cop of anything.
