well i'm not going to be able to make it this time.
going to be at the ocean this weekend. the gf got a condo on the beach and we're sending the kids camping with their uncle. so as much fun as it would be to meet some atoters, i think a nice weekend with the gf and no kids is going to be time well spent.
have fun everyone

No way!!

I was in Seattle last year for two weeks and no "hot chicks" wanted to meet me. :( ;)

Sure wish I wasn't so busy though because I really wanted to drop down and see Russ.

All you people have a cold  for me!! :)

I'll be there in thought and mind.

Seems that Seattle is a popular place for people to be moving. I'm headed out there in August too. Unfortunately, I already have a 1br/1 bath lined up.

ChefJoe - I have some friends who found a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment in Bellevue, right on 520 (literally a fifteen minute drive straight into the U District) for $800 a month, a flat rate which included utilities, internet, etc. In my opinion it would be prudent to check some of the outlying areas as well, 'cuz there are some amazing deals.

lol, and to top it off bellevue isn't exactly the cheapest area on the east side. $800 is pretty cheap for a 2bdr/2ba in beelevue so either A) its a dump or B) its pretty small

in any case if you go a little further out east or go further south on the west side you will be able to find more afforadable housing, but beware of the comutes, they can be killer.

The bathrooms aren't huge, but the bedrooms/kitchen are, and the building's clean and in good shape. I've seen quite a few apartments in the U District/Seattle area, and I was genuinely surprised at the deal my friends got.

I just got back. Brutuskend and ffm are on their way to the Canadian border. We went back south after Pike Place and Brutus (the dog, not Dave) went and played in the water at the beach, and then we went out to dinner and talked. Fun times! Nate, great seeing you, as always, and Joey it was terrific meeting you! Sorry we weren't able to catch up with the rest of you, and hopefully we'll have another netmeet in September.

I'll start a thread tomorrow with more details and pics.

Night guys!

WELL... I'm home.

Paige arrived just a few minutes behind Dave and I to Russ's shop, about 1pm Saturday morning. I would have taken pictures of Russ and the rest of us, but Russ looked to scary to take pictures of. I didn't want my digicam ruined. ;) :p From there, Dave and I followed (read: TRIED to follow) Paige back to Seattle where we parked and walked down to the coffee shop. It's Seattle's Best on the corner, guys. It's not that hard to find. :p I swear.... I've been to Seattle once when I was in 6th grade and even I could have found that. You locals must have a few screws loose :p

Sitting there waiting for everyone else, some guy walks up to the police officer we were talking to and asks where Tully's coffee shop was. Paige spoke up and said something about ATOT and thus introduced the rest of us to the newly-arrived Xionide and his friend who was tagging along. Waiting for Orsorum was easy. Paige just happened to be standing looking into the coffee shop talking about him never being on time. Who do we see? Nate standing in line inside getting a drink. :) Nobody else seemed to show, so we walked down through the market seeing the sights (and t3h w0m3nz!!). We stopped to get something to eat and settled on the grass at the waterfront for a little while. Xionide and his buddy had to leave unless they wanted to walk home due to bus schedules, so they parted ways. Dave, Brutus, Paige, Nate, and I decided to find a more shady spot for Brutus, and sat there for a little while. A little while later, Nate had to leave. He needed to get some studying done so we said our goodbyes. I got a few good shots of some Mustangs before the three of us decided to meander back in the direction of our automobiles. We walked through the market again. While Paige was getting a whole crab wrapped for her, I mensioned to her that one of the girls working the fish stand looked like Lindsay. She'd been flinging me crap the whole time, but I didn't think she'd be THIS mean. What does she do? She JETS over to her and asks if she can take her picture. I'm following slowly thinking "OMG why the hell did I have to open my BIG FVCKING MOUTH." Paige, with ice cream in hand, says that she can't find her camara (which is probably the first thing you see looking down into her bag) and asks if I would take it for her. Paige... I fvcking love you. Some comment was made about taking her picture with the fish, so this girl picked up one of the headless salmon sitting next to her. Me, in my randomness, asked her if she would hold the fish open for the picture. I was probably bright freaking red, but I got my picture. :D

From there, we decided to go down to the beach to let Brutus go swimming. We found our way to Saltwater State Park and let him play with the kids for a little over an hour. Brutus is so good with kids. He's very intelligent. You can talk to him almost like he's a human being and he'll pick up on most of it. A little odd, but very cool. The kids loved throwing sticks into the water and watching him scramble out to get them and bring them back to let them do it again. The three of us had a great time taking pics and talking. Hunger got the best of us, so Paige ran home to drop off the crab in the fridge and we met at Red Robin's for some great food and hilarious conversation. There's a reason Brutuskend has the title that he does. He's the MASTAR.

Dave and I decided to leave dinner and just drive until we were too tired and stop at a rest stop for the night, which we did. However, the guys running the rest stop said that we're only about 20 miles form the border, so we decided to keep going. We were headed up for some pain medication that is apparently VERY cheap there. 200 per bottle for $6 or so instead of $2-$4/pill here in the states. Dave was told that it was legal to buy up there but you had to pay dues or import tax on it to get it back into the states. By the time we got to the border, it was about 2:30a or so.

We rolled into Canadian customs and got the 3rd degree just like everybody else. We told them why we were headed to Canada and where we were from, which didn't seem to sit right with them. Looking at our Oregon licenses as forms of ID, they couldn't believe that we'd come all this way at 2:30 AM to go shopping. We explained that we'd just spent the day in Seattle with some friends and didn't want to bother stopping to sleep which is why we were there at the time we were. However, since it was our first time across the border (or so that's the reason we were given), they wanted to search the truck. Just freaking great. One of the first direct questions one of the inspectors asked was if we were headed up to buy pot seads. Again, we told them the reason we were headed up. They had us empty our pockets and went through the truck top to fvcken bottom. One of the inspectors was going through my backpack and didn't like the fact that I had allergy and athsma medicine in a ziplock baggie. Prescription drugs. Again, yet another reason to hate us honkeys or somethin. When he was putting the stuff back in my bag, he not-so-gently tossed my phone in (NOT cheap data device) and tossed my digicam right on fvcking top of it. I could hear the plastics colide from where I was sitting, about 20 feet away. Grr... Dave had the papers for Brutus, showing that he had all his required shots for inter-country travel so that wasn't an issue at all.

They let us go but said we wouldn't be let into the country this time and we had to go home. Live and learn, I guess. Dave's probably going to kick the sh|t outta his Canadian friend who had this stuff and told him that he could go up and get it. I hope he does.

So we circled around and drove back through to US customs. What happens? They ask why we were denied entry to Canada. Goddamnit, I can see it coming already. The guy at the US customs station told us that the medication WAS allowed into the country, but only in 50-pill-per-person-in-the-vehicle (make sense?) doses. F0CK. By this time, it's about 3am and Dave and I are so very tired and we're both probably looking like we're high on dope. Eyes droopy, a little slow speach, odd time of the night to be coming through. What happens? They have us pull in and step inside. !@#&!$&^*! They took our licenses just like the kanucks did, only this time, we got the 5th fvcking degree. Where do you live? Where do you work? Where DID you used to work? Where are you going? Why are you here? How do you know each other? Where did you meet? How long have you known each other? blah blah blah. They had us take a seat while THEY tossed the truck as well. What were they thinking? That they were going to find some huge stash of cocaine that the Canadians just *happened* to miss or something? After about 10 minutes or so, we were let go with a stearn warning that having controlled substances in our possession without proper permits (prescription) can result in either a $5,000 or $10,000 fine and confiscation of the vehicle. Gawd... Like we're money laundering or something. They let us go and we headed back for home.

We ended up crashing at a rest stop for a nap instead of driving off the road and dying. We were on the road five hours later, rested. I got home about 12:15 and Dave's on his way back to Eugene. I hope I hear about an ass kicking when Brutuskend gets home and posts, dammit!

Dave is one of the coolest people I've ever met. He and I get along very well. Brutus was the LIFE of the party, everywhere we went. Dave came up Friday night for a BBQ at a friend's house. Nothing like watching gorgeous women flock to his dog and play. It was the same way in Seattle. Gorgeous women ALL OVER THE PLACE, and they loved his dog. Dave, mind if I borrow Brutus if I go back to Seattle some time? :D Xionide is pretty cool. Nate is a dork. ;) :p j/k Paige? Paige is, quite simply, an angel. :) But not totally. I have incriminating pictures... We'll see what Paige pictures Paige posts of me. Depending on which ones she posts will dictate whether I post that pic publicly or not. :p

Had a GREAT time and I can't wait to do it again. This was MUCH better than either of the PDX meets I went to. Maybe we should have them in Seattle from now on?

Oh yeah... a few more points to my small story... While pointing out hotties to eachother, Brutuskend mensioned that because of his baby face, he wasn't ever with women his age. I asked him if it was because he was afraid of breaking their hip and he told me to fock off. :D

Just before we came up to the Canadian border, we were laughing about what to tell them when they ask our intent to see Canada. We were joking that we might tell them "We wanna see the tank!" We were completely serious and respectful when we went through customs, though.
