Best buy has the Seagate 160GB with 5 year warranty for $39.99 after 2 $40 mail-in rebates 6072224 (page currently shows only one rebate). Use the $20 coupon from this thread for $19.99 final price (plus whatever in taxes.)
8/28-9/03

Coupon is for in-store purchases.

A copy of the other rebate, the Seagate $40 one is here. (Many thanks to yellowfiero.)

Not bad for 160gb... with a 5 year warranty. And I have a Rewards card and an extra external enclosure laying around...

Might as well spend some cash.

Wow, this is hot. Don't need another HDD, but can probably make $60 profit quick on Ebay.

The picture shows it as a serial ata drive. Anyone know if this would be a good OS drive even though it is probably only SATA I ?

Uh, no it doesn't. This is clearly marked as an Ultra ATA drive - not serial.

Thats funny, because the AD itself shows serial. I am not sure how to link the ad, check the "current ad" link and look at the storage section, the picture of the box says "serial ata" and the description says nothing of the interface.

In fact, the daily ad shows it as the same item number 6072224, so which is it?

Dunno. You can view the ad online (page 16) and it says $39.99 after 2 $40 MIRs.

Very true. The ad pic does say SATA. The item is listed as model ST3160023A-RK, though, which is Ultra ATA. My guess is that the picture is wrong.

Bummer, I was hoping for a good deal on a sata drive for my new machine. Too bad 160GB is not quite enough for a good backup drive...

Seagate site here says 5.

Looks like they need to clean up their site, having disagreeing numbers on the product sheet is bad. Maybe I will pick up one of these anyway, AR, coupon, and the gift cards I have I would be making $20...

Anyone actually used the coupon for the HD? I know it was a big hassle to use it on the memory.

This Seagate link Seagate Parallel ATA drives shows two 160 GB drives, the 7200.7 and the 7200.7Plus. The Plus shows three year warranty the non-plus shows nothing about warranty length. The 120 GB version also shows that same discrepancy.
This link shows Barracuda drives seem to have 5 year warranties.
Most like they do need to clean up their website and fix these discrepancies.

Yes, BB in Boynton Beach FL honored the coupon when I purchased this drive an hour ago.

The UPC on the box states the part number is ST3160023A-RK and the part number is 9W2884-337. There's a big red round sticker on the front of the box: "New 5 year warranty."

Can anyone confirm that two rebates are printing at register or have a link to other rebate? I'd like to get in on this if both rebates are available.

Thanks.

Have people been able to get that coupon to work without getting hassled? Can we verify that it's legit?

I called 1-888-BESTBUY to ask about the coupon just now, and they told me that there was another page that went along with the coupon specifying terms and conditions, and one of the conditions was that you had to purchase a new computer or notebook for the coupon to apply. Sounds like the person who designed the coupon was just silly when they didn't include that information on the second page.

Could be BS, but they guy sounded honest. At any rate, I'm not gonna drive all the way to BB to have them reject the coupon.

No they are wrong there also, while they might have INTENDED it to be with a new computer. I actually DID get it sent personaly to my email address. The FIRST PAGE said NOTHING about buying a new computer for discounts to apply.

EDIT: ALSO, as I stated on another forum. CircuitCIty has the same drive with $70 in rebates. SO PM to frys/outpost to $89. = $20AR. Same price as this BB deal with coupon. In fact, it will be a bit cheaper cause of the 10% you save pming.
