It worked just fine at the Tukwila, WA store.

$139 - 10 IR - 20 Coupon - 40 rewards bucks = $65.27 with tax.
65.27 - 40 rebate - 40 rebate = -14.37 so thats -8.9 cents a gig. TEH WINNAR!

Doh, you got me beat. I had $26 in gift cards I used so I paid $78.94. I'll make $1 on the deal - postage so I'll about break even.

Well, you still get a hdd for ~free so that is good in my book. I am just happy we signed up for the rewards thing when we got our appliances, $65 in rewards for a $10 initial payment works for me! :)

Both rebates printed for me. However, the coupon looks as though it's had its run. The Reno BB wouldn't take it at first, so I told them I'd be willing to wait for them to call Corporate and find out what was up. (Long wait too) The word handed down was that the coupon was originally sent out with a letter indicating that the deals were only good with the purchase of a new PC. Regardless, $40 for 160 gigs isn't a bad deal at all.

I'll tell you though, the theories I heard from some of the people working there were... interesting. One of the Geek Squad guys swore up and down that images.bestbuy.com wasn't a BB domain, that it was actually a renegade server and the coupon only worked because it was a generic code.

am i missing something from this...

I went to BB website and i checked the Ad it Says

Seagate 160GB Internal Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive
Model: ST3160023A-RK

Price 129.99 -10.00 IR = 119.99

Then i clicked under Rebates and it says just 1 for 40 bucks i mail to
MAIL ALL OF THE ABOVE TO:
Best Buy Rebate #60869
PO Box 7400

So... i also saw that coupon for 20 bucks off from the printable coupon

To me thats 119.99-40-20= 60 bucks plus i have to pay tax..

wheres this missing 40 that everyone else sees?

In my area BB the deal is $69.99 after instant rebates. They took the $20 off coupon which made it $49.99 + tax - $40 Seagate rebate = 9.99+tax on $49.99.

Even a better deal!! I'm buying one or two more tomorrow!!
Be careful. I took mine back after reading the fine print on the rebate from the website:

"In-store rebates are valid on in-store purchases only. BestBuy.com rebates are valid with online purchases only."

I got the same price as you did in Clearwater, FL store, and no "in-store" rebate printed at the register :(

From the Seagate rebate submission rules " Qualifying purchase must be made during rebate period. Items must be purchased from BestBuy.com or Best Buy retail stores."

I'm talking about the Seagate rebate, not BestBuy's rebate.

Worked for me in Duluth , MN with no problems. The cashier took the coupon and scanned it and then scanned the drive and took my credit card and then metioned that it was a heck of a deal a drive for $20 AR.

Thanks for the great deal.

I just bought a second one. Worked out fine. The cashier told me though all the bestbuys got a corporate letter saying not to accept that coupon because it was somehow edited and sent out to people. That it was not theirs.

I still dont understand this logic. How stupid do they think people are. Lets put asside the part where someone would have to HACK their system in the first place which would look really bad for bestbuy if thats what they are admiting to. Putting that aside, how does someone hack their system and then also make the coupon work when scanned. Also, getting peoples email addresses and having it sent out to thousands of people. Not to mention the pdf file is being held on their own image file server. Which if they didnt want it there, youd think it would be removed by now? Bestbuy has some issues I swear. I think they are full of it, trying to cover their lame mistake with some dumb excuse to deny people.

Whatever, judging by this thread, most people are getting it no problems, looks like they are failing...

Powers store in Colorado Springs has alot of the drives left, but isn't taking the coupon. They have a copy of it taped above the register with a statement to the effect that it's a misprint and should read "with the purchase of any laptop computer"

Might try the Academy store after work, but expecting the same there.

Thanks for posting the seagate manufacturer's rebate yellowfiero. I suppose we could use that for online orders even though it isn't posted online yet as it says it's valid for Bestbuy.com purchases. I suppose doing instore pickup will make the $20 coupon harder to use though.

Everyone be careful if you buy two drives and apply from your (single) address as they'll likely reject two of your $40 rebates since they both say limit one per address.

went to two bestbuys today, one in costa mesa (south coast plaza) and the other in tustin (tustin market place). manager at coasta mesa was a complete jerk, said that i had to buy every single item on the list AND a computer in order to qualify. Then he said "actually, I wont accept this coupon no matter what you do, and I don't care if you've called a best buy csr or not, my word is final." wow, looks like you guys got there first and pissed him off ;p. however, the store at tustin was perfectly fine, i was going to buy two but didnt since i can only send one rebate per address. ill probably end up taking my gf tomorrow =). the only comment i got at the tustin store was "wow, looks like youre getting this almost for free, not bad". sweet!

Got one at the Woodbury, MN Magnolia store (just like a regular BB but no over head shelves and less on each shelf... :) It was the last one on the self, but I'd bet they had more in back. No questions asked either, $106.49 out the door, $26.49 AR. THANKS!
