It's unmanaged and unsustainable fishery. It's been proven time and time again that it occurs with no regard for size, species or age and that many other species are impacted in the process.

If it's simply about economics, well, they're well on their way to killing that golden goose.

The fundamental flaw is assuming everyone involved cares about the long term sustainability.

Very Skies of Arcadia way of taking down ships. He needs to outfit the front of his hull with spiked plating, though.

the faroese islanders need to stop killing dolphins for their meat. It is sickening, that people still do this.

First, they are not dolphins.

Second, that is how they feed their population.

Third, tell me how it is horrible for them to do this once a year to feed their entire population when we keep our animals in cages their whole lives, pump them full of drugs, then slaughter them. At least the Faroese catch animals that got to live free for awhile and then slaughter them as quickly as possible.

Finally, the Faroese are not a threat to the whales' community in a long term sense. It is sustainable and has been for hundreds of years, maybe longer iirc.

They don't want McDonald's. They want what their people have been eating longer than this country has been around and their fishing is sustainable. I personally found the Whale Wars people to be horribly wrong on that one.

1. First they are Dolphins. Pilot whales, which is what they hunt are in fact dolphins.

2. These are highly intelligent animals, it would be like if people went around hunting apes to eat. There is no evidence it is sustainable either.

3. To claim they aren't a threat to these dolphins are wrong, because they are.

FYI when tested the meat of dolphins is found to be full of mercury and heavy metals, it considered very toxic to humans. Yet these people are killing these majestic animals and shoving these toxins down their throats.

I personally donate 25 a month to Greenpeace to stop them.

What I don't understand is that while he's willing to ram another ship, he's not willing to arm his ships with things like torpedoes and just outright sink other ships?

Come on. If you're going to do it, do it right.

I don't think he's trying to kill people, just stop them from killing sharks/whales/other.

Sucks doesn't it? The world is fucked up. Like fat ass Americans eating McDonald's.

I find cows to be more majestic than dolphins.

I love steak

$25 down the drain every month.

He should leave them alone so they can do their Oceanic research. How are you supposed to study the ocean if you are not allowed to dissect the Whales for analysis.

The difference is cows chickens and Pigs are not endangered..( nearly at extinction levels still)
Whales are INTERNATIONALLY PROTECTED AND BANNED FROM HARVEST..
Japan has found a loophole in the law that allows a certain number a year harvested for Scientific use.. but they are actually selling it as a luxury item in Japan.

And dont even get me started on the selfish Chinese out there finning 100s of thousands of sharks. People are universally stupid.. you break the ecosystem and we all will end up dead..

so you want to kill close to 50,000 Faroese?

International law says you don't do it.. those animals are PROTECTED.
But people are f**king dumb..and care less about the world and the wild animals we destroy in the name of money.

I don't deny that at all. I just don't believe rounding up 40 or 50 of these things and slaughtering them is going to rid the entire ocean of them. I also find it odd that the pilot whales are supposedly full of mercury and shit when these people have been eating them for a thousand years without issue. If they are loaded with chems then it is their choice to eat that stuff, just like we eat McDonald's and such.

Pilot Whales are dolphins? OK, I can accept that, I don't claim to know much about what different species are. It still doesn't change anything. They are not endangered by a tiny island of people killing a few dozen of them, because if that endangered them they would be gone by now.

Finning sharks is absurd, obviously. Waste a whole shark for a little fin? Stupid.

You need to do some research on the people in the Faroe islands, you are wrong.

there's no fucking international law against the Faroese doing what they've been doing for over a thousand years. Pilot whales aren't endangered, they have historically been an integral part of Faroese diet and still are. The hunt is not commercialized and is highly regulated. please educate yourself on the grind and I don't mean the BS seashepherd spews.

Regardless, it's still wrong to be killing this many sea animals. If they want to eat them they should cough up the cash required to build large sea farms and raise their own, instead of screwing with the food chain by making species go extinct one by one. Or they could eat chicken, cow, pig etc like everybody else given those are more realistic to raise.

At least by having farms you are not screwing with nature by mass killing a species.

Would you have a problem if it was bottlenose dolphins? Those aren't endangered either.

It isn't just pilot whales, it is other dolphins that have been killed too, including a few hundred white-sided dolphins each year.

Let me ask you this, what animal is off limits?

FYI they haven't been doing this for over a thousand year, around 600 years maybe. The island hasn't even been inhabited for over a 1000 years.
