A whole shark takes up a lot more room in the cooler and is worth less per pound than the fins. Simple economics.

if it were about "simple economics," these retards would understand they are destroying the ecosystem upon which their economy depends.

fuck them all.

kudos to whale man, and may he sink many more illegal sea-raping vessels.

I personally donate 25 a month to Greenpeace to stop them.

Good job throwing your money in the shitter.

Greenpeace is simply another giant corporation that is only interested in being anti-corporation. They lost their way more than 2 decades ago. The environment is really only a tertiary concern for them these days.

You'd be better off simply punching the little summer kids that hang out on the street begging money for Greenpeace, letting them know that they are doing jack-all for the environment with their summer "job." (not that any of the money they collect will ever go to Greenpeace, anyway....but that's a different issue)

Someone has to do something.. I'm glad there are people like him out there going head to head with the real criminals..

Sharkfinners and Whalers.. kill them all.. I say cut off the arms and legs of the sharkfinners and toss them overboard and see how they like it..
Wat about the people that eat this stuff ? They don't do that for fun they do it for $$😎

What do you think of Environment California, have you heard of them? I give them $25 a month to help ban plastic bags, end gold minning in California, and to do another things needed.

We use reuseable bags and recycle, but this thread is just LOL. While I support a lot of what the Sea Sheppard does, I also find that they overstep sometimes and push their views on other people without really knowing the facts. The Faroese is one excellent example of this.

There is little different that what the Faroe islanders do and and what the Japanese did in the movie the cove. I guess you people support that too.

Be careful with lumping all activities into the same ideaology. That forces you to choose your side even when you are dead wrong.

I haven't seen the Cove, but the Faroese are not Japanese. It's a very different situation, given the Japanese's history of poor treatment, I am sure.

The Japanese have hunted just as long if not longer than the Faroe islands, and I have seen no evidence the Faroe islanders treat the dolphins any better.

It has been documented that these dolphins suffer for many many minutes before dying, often kills can last over 30 minutes, and in this time the whale is under incredible stress and even from the time it is stabbed, the death can last many minutes.

So you have no plastic bags or gold in your house then, right?

Oh snap, your computer has some gold in it.

I am going to go on a whim here and say that no matter what, when it comes to food something dies so people can live, growing vegetables, things die, but since its not whales or dolphins its cool. I bet even things die harvesting the cotton clothing is made out of, time to wear synthetic clothing I guess. Hell I bet I even kill some bugs mowing the lawn, better stop doing that also.

Yes but the Japanese have a history of not following laws against whaling and being unusually cruel to the animals, such as finning the sharks. Faroese try to kill the Pilots as fast as they can and use all of the whale, and are not a threat to the Pilots' existence.

Once again, it is clear that you are an animal lover and while that is not really a bad thing, blindly jumping into your ideaology prevents you from ever choosing the other side...even when your ideaology is horribly wrong, as in this case.

Guy is a huge idiot. He is trying to do the right thing but is not smart enough to know how to do it. He will ram a ship and sink it, but wont outfit his ship with weapons to sink other ships? what a idiot. Why risk damage to your own ship? Get some torpedos and do it right, ramming a ship is likely to rip a larger hole in the hull and sink it faster than a torpedo likely killing more of the occupants than a small torpedoe hit that will sink most ships slowly.

FYI they haven't been doing this for over a thousand year, around 600 years maybe. The island hasn't even been inhabited for over a 1000 years.

the earliest gealic settlers arrived in the 6th century and it was later populated by norse settlers, especially in the 9th century when a large norwegian population settled on the islands. 1200 year old pilot whale bones have been found in the settlement of Gøta...

please try again.

A torpedo is a very sophisticated, expensive weapon that would be hard to find on the black market, then you've got to come up with a means to launch it and maintain it while it's on board. A better idea is a "limpet" mine, attaches to the hull of a ship while it's docked, held on by magnets it can be designed to go off on a timer or attach a small propeller to it (after a certain amount of revolutions it triggers detonation). It can then be set to go off after the ship leaves port and is in deep water making raising the vessel much more difficult. Only drawback is the mine has to attached by SCUBA divers at night so there would be significant risk involved..

This is also a much better idea than ramming, cheaper than torpedos but higher risk.

Cite your sources please because this wikipedia page indicates settlement as early as the 6th century AD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Faroe_Islands

This wikipedia page indicates that pilot whale hunting may have been taking place as early as 1200 years ago based on the discovery of pilot whale bones in Norse archealogical sites in the Faroe Islands. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whaling_in_the_Faroe_Islands

there's no fucking international law against the Faroese doing what they've been doing for over a thousand years. Pilot whales aren't endangered, they have historically been an integral part of Faroese diet and still are. The hunt is not commercialized and is highly regulated. please educate yourself on the grind and I don't mean the BS seashepherd spews.

Whaling is outlawed period.. I don't care what primitive POS you are you are not exempt from the law... you find another food source and obey international law and to help whales thrive again.

I don't care what uneducated POS you are, it's not against any international law. show me a law that prohibits the Faroese from continuing with their long tradition.

RPG's would get the job done as well and don't appear to be that expensive or risky.

IIRC, whaling of protected species is outlawed on an international level. The population of pilot whales isn't small enough that they are protected. I'm not advocating their practices, btw.

Have you ever watched the show?? The volunteers are way too inept to be trusted with explosives of any kind. As funny as it is watching them sink their own ships, killing themselves would be bad for ratings.

While I can understand and relate to their desire to save the whales and stop whaling, they are just horrible at it. The Japanese handed their asses to them this season.
