Honest question. Do you think if there was a Democrat Congress and POTUS significant wealth would be taken away from the top 1%?

This is not purely theoretical.

The Bush tax cuts had sunset provisions. Obama extended the cuts on the lower incomes, but returned the top rate to 39.6% from Bush's 35%.

They also restored the estate taxes (which Trump attacked again.)

Yeah I guess that's right

You guessed what was right?

Trump and Cohen are also exposed to federal, state and local tax fraud and business fraud charges for the way they structured the shell companies, hush money and reimbursement payments as to conceal the transaction and it's participants?

This is in addition to the campaign finance charges Cohen is going to prison for.

That's what you guessed before your diversion into tax rates?

Lol...I see Trump's clearly been smocking something again..Or, he's having visions of white coats.

Hey, it was a simple private transaction. For 130 grand. To not talk about a one-night stand. Just what anyone would do in the same situation, really. And of course, I always lie repeatedly about all of my simple transactions.

It's amazing how quickly we've gone from "I never met Stormy Daniels" to "It was perfectly legal to have my lawyer bribe Stormy Daniels not to talk about our affair so that I could win an election"

Republicans just coming into the open with it now. Crimes aren't crimes if you are with the GOP. The party of "law and order" indeed.

This must be some of the “enforce the laws we have now” thing I keep hearing from the GOP.

Heard something similar from Rand Paul last night. He started off with something smart but I know he wouldn’t have agreed if we were talking about President Clinton.
He said the campaign finance laws are overly complicated and recommend jail time when it should be fines. He said something about typical Washington escalating everything to jail time even when it’s not needed.

Yeah, change it to bullshit fines instead of jail time.

Just add it to the request to the donor class as the cost of business. Like a fuel surcharge for deliveries when oil goes up.

Just as our founding fathers and fallen soldiers defending democracy fought for.

Fucken traitors...

If we're going to take voter fraud so seriously that one stupid extra vote can lead to several years in prison, then we should definitely take these campaign fiance violations more seriously than a fine that's quite trivial to those who would be subjected to it.

He's blowing smoke, as if this were just some sort of accounting error. I mean, obvious intent is obvious, isn't it?

The. President. Is. A. Criminal.

This is a national emergency. Why the everloving fuck is everyone not working to oust him.

Forget party, forget tribe, he’s a felon.

Yes, and in other news, the Washington Post's fact checking department has created a new category for Trump, called the Bottomless Pinocchio, for falsehoods repeated 20 or more times.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...eated-over-over-again/?utm_term=.9e51aa431c2b

He's managed 14 "Bottomless Pinocchio's." I must say, that really takes some commitment.

I've come to the conclusion that Trump is a shitty president. Also, the heater's off and it's getting cold so I think I'll hit the hay. That's a better use of a pitch fork, dank. This too will pass.

Of course we get : "I didn't do it, but if I did it was not a big deal, and if it was a big deal, it was not illegal and if it was illegal, it's not my fault"

My favorite Twitter comment;

"We will, we will smock you!
We will, we will smock you!
Trumpy you're a dim man, dumb man say
With your tweets gonna be in the Pen one day
Got a fat orange face, big disgrace
But Mueller's will indict you, a conspiracy case.
We will, we will smock you. "

The next problem is how will voters react to it. Will it end up like Clinton lying about a BJ, I think most would agree a lie like that is to be expected.
Will people say the same thing about paying off a pornstar. I think so, I’m far from a Trump guy but there needs to be something more than paying off a pornstar to me.

*This is today so let’s avoid Gary Hart comparisons

**I know it’s the law to disclose that payment the question is how do voters look at it

You hit the real agenda. The Dems have been unable to manufacture/produce any credible evidence that Trump did anything illegal so they are trying to convict him in the court of public opinion. When you have top DOJ officials essentially staging a mutiny against the president, you know that it's looking more and more like a "witch hunt".

Let me get this straight. It's Republican-led investigation that has obtained guilty pleas from several Trump associates and has directly implicated Trump in a violation of election law. It's overseen by a DOJ with Trump-chosen officials. And yet, somehow, it's a Democrat conspiracy that has been "unable" to produce evidence.

Holy shit, you live in a fantasy land completely disconnected from reality.

That's delusional. If "Individual 1" were anybody but the President they'd have been indicted with Cohen. Senator, Congressman, Governor, anybody.

When it comes to criminal matters, the President must first be out of office before facing any charges. The head of federal law enforcement obviously won't direct the DoJ to prosecute himself. We can't have the power of the Presidency being wielded from a prison cell, either.

That's a no-brainer supremo.
