Screw you, USPS!

I am sick of the USPS. I sent a package(my laptop, for warranty service) priority mail on Dec 22. I got insurance and delivery confirmation. Now, with priority mail, delivery is supposed to be 2-3 days. Even with Christmas day discounted, it should be there. It should DEFINATELY be there as it was going a grand total of 60 MILES! WTF, USPS? The delivery confirmation number shows that for some reason it was forwarded in another city. It says 'forwarding instructions or wrong zip code'. I didn't give any forwarding instructions, and I'm nearly sure that the zip code was right.

I've called USPS three times now to try and get the issue fixed, because I NEED to have my laptop fixed ASAP so that I can have a computer to use when the semester begins. EACH time I've called, their phone service has been absolutely infuriating. I call, their automated menu can't even figure out what I'm saying, even when I say word-for-word one of the options it gives. Once I put in my tracking number, it gives me the same info(from the 24th) and will not give anything else. All I want is to talk with a human who can fix the issue. All of the above wouldn't tick me off too much(even though it should) because it's what I've come to expect from the USPS- worthless service and broken promises. However, the next bit I just can't figure out. Each time I've called, I've said 'Customer Service' several times in order to try and get a human. Each an every time, the answer is 'The information provided through the automated system is up to date, and customer service is not an option at this time'. WTF do you mean it's not an option? IT'S TEN THIRTY AM ON A THURSDAY MORNING? WHY THE HELL CAN I NOT GET CUSTOMER SERVICE?

It's always the same with USPS, they're just worthless. Does anyone know a way to get a hold of an actual human at the USPS?

It sounds as if the recipient is having mail forwarded to another address? Anyway, you know what they say--Priority Mail is not guaranteed and not for time-sensitive shipments.

wow....is your computer that important? Why don't you just use the labs at school? You sent out the 22nd (a Sat. I might add), which probably means they waited the next day to truely send it out. However, seeing a show the 23rd is a Sunday, they probably waited till the 24th.....but wait, that is Christmas Eve....so good luck having usps do something on that day and we all know that the 25th is Christmas...so no go on that.

As for your updates, it is the christmas season. They are swamped. WOuld you rather have them concentrate on updating the system or sending out packages?

Also, today is just day 3. The 22nd was a saturday, next day was closed, I'm guessing they were open on the 24th(day one), closed on tuesday for christmas, wednesdy(day 2), today (day 3).

And yea, priority mail isn't garunteed, and it's the freaking holidays so a day or so delay isn't out of the realm of reason.

I'd go to the post office, any post office, with your reciept and DC number and talk to someone.

60 miles? I'd have driven it there myself if I needed it so urgently.

It's not the delay that's got me up in arms, it's the fact that the status has been 'forwarded' since the 24th, and in a town that is completely unrelated to the shipping process. I was finally able to get a hold of a human on the phone, and was told that the forwarding process will take five days(even though it's priority mail!). This makes me want to stab something.

no there not that bad. did you hand write the address. if so how bad is your hand writing. did you drop it in a mail box or did you go to the post office. lastly make sure the address is right.

also usually when the wrong address thing shows up it will retuirn to you in about 3 weeks.

lastly check the insurance number tracking. that is imo a far superior tracker than the tracking info given by the delivery confirmaion number.

Then why did you use them?

Ahhh...wait...I think I know what happened. You got delivery confirmation. I made a thread about this months ago. Appearently, when you get delivery confirmation, they no longer read the address on the box. They just scan it and a zip code pops up on the computer and it gets sent that way. The person who sent it (the person who took your package) probably put the zip code in wrong so it sent to the wrong post office for sorting. You are lucky that they actually caught it. In my gf's case, they actually sent my gf's mother's bday gift to some random office in another part of the country. Luckily, the people who worked at the office noticed that FL was somewhere else on the map and overnighted to my gf's mom. You would think that adding this service would mean they would pay more attnetion to your package, but that is not the case.

What did you expect from an inefficient, oversized, government-subsidized monopoly?

A couple of months ago, I sent a regular sized letter using first class registered mail (cost me $12), which according to the post office is their most secure form of mailing and will get to the destination in 4 days. The letter wasn't delivered to the destination (~500 miles away) until exactly 14 business days later and the entire time the tracking number I got wasn't updated on their website. So much for their "most secure form of mailing". Never again!

Ditto. In this case, the delay may be entirely the fault of the recipient. Personally, that is the way I think it is in this case. Next time you want guaranteed 3 day service, use UPS or FedEx.

You should've just gone with USPS Express 2-day delivery.

Priority mail is NEVER a guaranteed service, it's best effort. Never expect 2-3 days during the peak weeks.

Next time choose Express mail or another carrier's guaranteed 2-3 day service.

Worst I have experienced is Priority taking almost 3 months.

Count yourself lucky. I always have trouble with USPS. Slow as hell and more expensive than UPS at times.

Alot of people have misconceptions about "Priority Mail" simply because they don't read the fine print and assume it's awesome and fast because of the name............. They should call it "Low-Priority Mail"............

weak rant, priority mail is an incredible deal and overall USPS is very solid.
