They are already in your list, but another vote for The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and Banner of the Stars. I watched the whole Seikai series and loved it, although the rest of the series is different than the first part (Crest of the Stars).

Also, I just finished Saikano and thought it was good and original, although the show is only 13 episodes. Reminds me a bit of Elfen Lied.

Blue Gender was enjoyable.

Death note was great until after episode 26, IMO.

Ergo Proxy is different, but I liked it.

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien is good, but you have to get pass the horribly cliche first two episodes. *Don't worry, they are so for a reason*

Are you also open to watching movies?

Hrm, I'll have to check out Saikano. I throughly enjoyed Elfen Lied, so anything that's similar I'll definitely have to take a look. It's also good to know that Banner is different from Crest. There were a few animes which changed the story a slight bit, but not a significant amount and that tended to annoy me (Tenchi Muyo [sp?] comes to mind).

I am open to movie suggestions. That reminds me, I need to tack on Appleseed and Grave of the Fireflies to my list.

Thanks again!

If you are open to movie suggestions, Paparika! Though it is a surreal experience if you happen to see it very late at night and you are exahustingly tired and having to drift inbetween your semi dream state and the movie's... I need to watch that sucker again and this time wide awake!

Uninhabited Planet: SURVIVE! is what I'm watching ATM.
It's a bit like Lord of the Flies, some kids get stranded on an uninhabited planet with just their shuttle and have to survive.
