<< last year in game 5 of port v lakers series pippen through a punch at laker reserve john salley and wasnt suspended...

the league made a bad descision by suspending williams. i dotn think the league is being consistent, and i also dont think the foul was worthy of a suspension.

it certainly appears as if the league wants philly v LA

Stalinator has proven over and over that he is a certifiable idiot, therefore he is wrong, i am right 😉

You guys only get to see what TV shows you.. I was _AT_ the game.. If you think Iverson doesn't whine then NBA isn't showing it to you.. the guy complains to the refs when there is ANY sort of contact.. He is CONSTANTLY complaining on the court.. You just don't see it because NBC probably has some graphic on the screen about how many 3 pointers Iverson has attempted when Ray Allen had MORE.. Its a conspiracy.. admit it.

Yeah iverson complains... almost as much as you 😉

Allen Iverson has the heart of a warrior. The little guy gets the sh!t beat out of him night in and night out, and he still brings it. I was watching game 4 or 5, and he got elbowed in the mouth (did he lose a tooth?) and in another Ray Allen just blatanly shoved him out of the way.

I personally think that the Bucks would give the Lakers a hard time rather than the 76ers.

Please.

Lakers-Sixers will probably go seven games, for one BIG reason - Dikembe Mutombo. Why? Deke gives O'Neal fits. He's probably the only center in the league other than Mourning that can play Shaq straight up on D with any success.

No way Lakers/Sixers could go seven games, not a snow balls chance in hell. If the Sixers get lucky it could go 5. The Sixers don't have the guns to play with the Lakers the way the Lakers are playing now. Deke may be able to play decent D on Shaq, but on the offensive side he is useless. The dude has post moves like donkey on roller skates. Mutombo is averaging 15.5 points per game in the conference finals, no way he is doing that against Shaq. Besides, just like the Spurs series, the key is Kobe, and once again, the Sixers have no one who can guard Kobe.

Let's put it this way, San Antonio would have had their way with Philly, and look what the Lakers did to them. Left them burned and twisted by and average margin of 22 points per game. Defensively the Sixers and Lakers are playing at about the same level right now, but offensively the Lakers are on another planet. The Spurs were the leagues best defense and still gave up 103.5 ppg on 47% to the Lakers.

Yeah Right

Xerox man I'll bet you 100 bucks that series won't go seven games. We can do paypal. If you think Dikembe gives Shaq fits, you need to look at their head to head stats. Dikembe has NEVER given Shaq fits. The twin towers couldn't handle him.

Another thing, Dikembe doesn't play position defense and that's the ONLY way you can play Shaq. Trying to block his shots won't work.

This just in! News Flash!

The FBI, US government and the UN have all admitted they are all part of the conspiracy!

This conspiracy stuff is just so ridiculous I find it entertainingly funny. The people who believe this tripe are the same types who still build bunkers in their backyards.

Gimme a break. Would the TV networks and the NBA prefer an LA-Philly series? Probably. It would generate decent ratings. Not too many people across the country give a crap about Milwaukee. Would they be so stupid as to buy off a whole bunch of people to do it? I don't think so. Actually, they aren't smart enough to pull it off either.

Edit: fixed typo

The NBA's #1 defense that plays in the mofo Western Conference "held" the Lakers to a paltry 100 and some change average iin their series and you honestly think Philly is going to do a better job.

Let's put it like this AI scores 50 and the Sixer's squeek by a sorry ass team like Toronto by a few points. Try that against the Lakers and it's a WHOLE different scenario.

I can't wait for this ass kicking to begin.

BTW - Any of you guys go to the ESPN forums? We need help in the Philly forums, they keep talking sh1t.

The conspiracy theories a bit far fetched. However, you hardly need to buy off a a bunch of people to fix a game.

All you'd have to do is have the ref's make a few calls in a teams favor. I used to ref for intermurals at UCI and a couple calls one way or the other coulda blown the games (worse job I ever had btw, UCI students don't do it, u take waaaay 2 much sh1t for the coupla bucks they pay you).

Phokus - If you watch teh guy daily, you'll see him take a guy outside do a facken stutterstep than a crossover on Tim Duncan and dish to a cutting B. Shaw.

trmiv - Finally someone who actually follows the sports other than watching NBC or ESPN highlights. 🙂

I think Scott Wiliams was fouling Iverson really bad. I also saw the replay that he did that intentionally. I think he should be ejected from the time he elbowed Iverson. I personally don't want any of the 2 team's star get injured so people will say that Lakers won it because there was no star in the opponent's club. AND to those of you who said O'Neal couldn't do anything, you're totally wrong dude. There is no game 7 at all cause Mutombo sucks. He did nothing on game 6. I saw the game and I am 100% he can't stop O'Neal. Like someone said, it will be lucky for the opponent team to get game 5. The hardest team to beat was SA and they got it 4-0. O'Neal didn't do a great job when playing against SA cause of the twin towers but with either Phily or Milwakee, huhahaha, there is no chance for either Mutombo or Earvin Johnson to stop him. Kobe and Fisher will also give their shooting touch. I say 4-0 to Lakers in the final

A. He didn't connect
B. Pippen and Salley were in a tussle
C. Williams did this not in the heat of a tussle with another player, but in the course of the game when the other player was clearly unable to defend himself.
D. Scott Williams has commited a flagrant foul in every series. And the one in the Hornets series was pretty bad as well. It wasn't just this incident but the accumlation of several.
E. If anyone who looked at that play can tell me that he did not intentionaly try to hurt Iverson your crazy.
F. The Sixers have owned the Bucks going on 4 years now. They have not needed the league to help them in anyway defeat the Bucks.
G. David Stern doesn't care for Iverson at all.
H. It wasn't the league that missed that jumper at the end of game 5, but Glenn Robinson.

from espn:

<< Williams said that while he never meant to hurt Iverson, he certainly intended to set the tone at both ends of the court. Williams said the reason his elbow had something extra to it was that he wanted to make sure to deny the basket.

"I wasn't trying to commit a flagrant foul or hurt him in any way," Williams said before learning of the suspension. "I have a knack for trying to get in the lane and draw charges when people come flying down the lane. And he's a little quicker than I thought he was and he's a little a little smaller than I thought he was."

"He's so low to the ground. I never got my elbow higher than about my rib cage and it just happened to catch him right at the chin," Williams said.

"I think as an older, veteran player with experience in these types of situations, that's my responsibility," Williams said. "That's my job. ... We'd been talking about not getting pushed around."

"I like to do things that fire up our team," Williams said. "But I'm not trying to take credit for knocking a guy on his keister and getting my team fired up. That's not my style of basketball.

"I've always said I'm a strong, aggressive player. But I'm not a dirty player."

<< btw-anyone watching the MJ special? It's pretty cool. >>

I've had it on for most of the day. The playoff game between magic and mj brought back memories. The more I watch it, the more I realize how good this years Lakers team is. I think they would beat those old bulls teams pretty handily.

Phokus - you're a jackass. 😉

From Shaq Talks Back:

"Now, today, I've made it. I am somebody. And every now and then in practice, Kobe Bryant will tell me, "If I was 6'10", I would dunk on you." I've heard this my whole life, guys saying if they were taller, if I was shorter. I always answer, "No, you wouldn't. You wouldn't do nothing." I worked hard to become the MVP of the league.

I have all kinds of skills I haven't shown. I used to bring it up and shoot my jumper. See, my father was an excellent shooter. He could shoot his butt off. To this day, he can shoot. I was taught the fundamentals. Right now, I can cross it up, come down under control, pull up, shoot the jumper. There are tapes from me in hish school running the three-on-two fast break correctly, giving it up the ball at the free-throw line. I had all that game, and I still have it. Once you learn it, it's always there.

But I was forced to become dominant. They told me: "You're 6'11", we don't want you shooting that jumper. The farther you are away from the basket, the lower your percentage." Shooting that far from the basket, every now and then, you have an off game. But down low, there is no off game. Especially when you're taking high-percentage shots like dunking back misses.

So now I'm coming up, 6'10", 6' 11", yeah, a jumper's nice but can you dunk on somebody? So now I dunk it. They like to see you dunk. "Dunk, don't lay it up, damn it." Dunk. Dunk, dunk, dunk, dunk, dunk. Jump hook, jump hook, jump hook. Guys were like: "Get the rebound. That's not your outlet. Don't dribble. Be mean. He elbows you? You 'bow him back. Get them 'bows up when you stand.

"Dunk, dunk, dunk, dunk."

When I started doing that, I could see in other guys' eyes: If he can play like that, we're in trouble. All of a sudden, I'm finding what it's like to become a big man."

(pg. 28-29)
😀

Xerox,
7 games, huh? I guess that's about what I'd expect from a suns fan. 😉

I think the Lakers will win, I just think y'all are underestimating the 76ers.

there is no way in hell this series is gonna go 7 games, it wont even go 5. 4-0 sweep by the Lakers, GUARANTEED. kobe will rip up iverson and whoever else the 6ers will throw at him, with shaq absoluetly murdering dike on both defense and offense. people say dike is a good defender cause he gets so many blocks, and with the way he plays (stands in the paint waiting for a shot to go up so he can block it) shaq will eat him up cause NOBODY is gonna block shaq.

Yep, definitely a bunch of fouls where I just shook my head and said to myself, "What the hell are those refs thinking?" But man, you gotta admit, Iverson fell pretty hard on that play.

I'm from Southern California though so to me, it doesn't really who comes out of the eastern conference; They're just gonna be another stepping stone as the Lakers run the table. ;>

I'm confused, I know for sure the NBA Finals ended after the Lakers defeated San Antonio. 😀

P.S.
I'm not a Lakers fan.

LOL. This has turned into an Iverson thread with a little bit of Laker fans and haters.

If there was any confusion, NO ONE gives Shaq "fits" straight up. Saying otherwise is plain wrong. If the Sixers still had (a healthy) Ratliff and played him with Gieger AND Mutombo (hehe, that'd be crazy and impossible), then you would slow down Shaq. But hell, Portland re-tooled their team this past summer to do just that and Sabonis/Davis/Wallace/Pippin couldn't do it.
