Kind of sad to see as I used to enjoy the Dilbert comics and my wife and I like the show. I definitely could relate to a lot of the stuff working as an engineer but occasionally the comics rubbed me the wrong way (especially the ones about women), and I felt like the comics started supporting the boss more and shitting on the workers more as it went on. I know engineers that act like this too (plenty that don't too though), they think since they're engineers they have rational and logical minds so if they think a certain way based on their feelings they still think it's rational and logical.

Maybe he has an undiagnosed brain tumor? Or leaning harder into the grift possibilities?

Seems his thoughts on how his career with Bell ended have changed over time.
Article from 3/8/1996
Adams says roughly 80% of his material comes from readers, which is a good thing, since he cleared out his own cubicle last June. He swears he was not downsized--"I had told my bosses that my energies were with the cartoon, and they just had to ask me and I would go peacefully."

All I know is someone needs to gag Gary Larson and Bill Watterson so I can continue to enjoy my childhood memories.....
If either of them turned out to be Dilbert guy style assholes that would be so sad.

Apparently Bill Watterson is coming out with some new significant work later this year and I’m looking forward to it as Calvin and Hobbes is my all time favorite comic strip, followed closely by Larson’s Far Side.

'Adams’ fate was effectively sealed Sunday evening when “Dilbert” distributor Andrews McMeel Universal said it was severing ties to the cartoonist. By Monday morning, “Dilbert” was gone from the GoComics site, which also features many top comic strips like “Peanuts” and “Calvin and Hobbes.” '

Oh, he's gonna keep digging. I like where this is going.
And he'll keep losing outlets for his strip. Good, fuggem.

Dude needs to just take the L and enjoy the rest of his life. Imagine all this wasted energy just to feel like a victim. He has had more success and wealth than 99% of the planet combined yet he is somehow the victim here? Of what?

I know there are some people who need to wake up with a chip on their shoulder just to make it thru the day, but this is ridiculous.

It is very weird how many people throw away their livelihood for what amounts to yelling at people on the internet.

He’s rich! Why not spend his days on a yacht or whatever - why ruin your life because MILFluvr69 made fun of you?

Not only did the newspapers and his distribution company dump him, his book publisher cancelled the upcoming publication of his newest book and is ceasing publishing of his existing books. His book agent also dumped him.

Maybe sooner or later, despite how much money he has, some of this will affect him. I don't know, but I hope so.

I agree this will probably affect him kind of seriously. As a rich person I suspect he has a pretty high monthly spend rate (which is perfectly reasonable, as he is rich)

This is all speculation on my part but I suspect his income was largely through publishing new comics and the residuals he got from republishing Dilbert. That’s all toxic now. Even if you have many millions if your income goes to zero you probably need to cut back. That being said his ‘cutting back’ is probably more money than any of our ‘going to work every day’.

I think he's already officially "unsyndicated" now. At this point, his only real smart move is to go full heel and hope to scarf up some of that sweet sweet KKK adjacent grift-apalooza $$$ from the super far right outrage appearance circuit.

Once the existing stocks of Win Bigly and Loserthink dry up, he'll probably have a smaller publishing footprint.

I still think about Larson just about every time I pass a pasture with cows in it.

Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite as it’s relatively complex and verbose (like me) but I will always love the simplicity of The Far Side.
