Umm because not everyone wants to pay more just to get a few more MPG. Keep the car cheap and you'll still end up paying less in the long run even with slightly less MPG.
Explain to me how a taller top gear increases the price...
Do you guys understand what this is?
RWD, low COG, under 2800 lbs., Toyota sports car. Gorgeous too... not enough love in this thread.

Give it 6sp transmission as tough as the E153 and all will be great. 😀
If it can compete with a V6 Mustang (but with enough torque to do anything), has a 6spd manual, and has quality Toyota build quality then I would strongly consider it.
I really hope that because they put a Scion badge on it they don't ruin the interior or find other ways to make it cheap.
with the Toyota Corolla engine....
Ha, if they released it looking like that they'd have a contender for greatest motor swap project car in history. It's incredibly good looking. It'll be dull as hell by the time it makes it to us though.
The Scion version is basically production version.
Haha, sorry but it won't look like that when it comes out. It rides too low, the brakes and wheels are too big, the tires are slicks, the rear diffuser will not make it to production, etc. These changes together will dramatically change the stance and how attractive I think the car is.

That's how cars look now. Ridiculous. I hope they tone it down. The front looks goofy.
I mean the body will basically stay the same.
The front end is a bit too Mazda-y for me, but otherwise I would take it as is (rice and all) 😛
The body is far from the only thing that affects how attractive the car is. Even if the body stays the same, they're going to downsize the wheels and relax the agressive side skirts and diffuser. This, IMO, will make the car quite a bit more boring.
If they have to mod it to look like that, it's not basically the production version at all.
No, I meant it won't matter to people who buy these cars, tend to mod them anyway.
Genesis Coupe is a good example, I've seen a few around and they are modded subtly or like crazy.

The Scion version is basically production version. It's a 2013 model set for Fall 2012 arrival.
If you look at the FT-86 concept I & II, those are far more outlandish.
That's not what we are fucking talking about:
It is NOT "basically a production version" as you say. I don't give a fuck about the aftermarket. The final production version will look immeasurably more boring than this show car. Just like the final Gen Coupe did.
